Post your best/worst/most hilarious rejection you have gotten from a prospective love interest (in-person or online).

Woman1: "Sure you can call me. just one thing. I lost my cell phone today and before I lost it it was breaking. So i may not have a call for a couple weeks"
Me: Seriously?

Woman2: "Awww. ur sweet but i already have a steady boyfriend. im just looking for guy friends to talk to"
Me: WUT? You have a profile on a dating website and have spent the last few messages openly flirting with me.

Woman3: *sees me for the first time* "Ummm... no." *walks away*
Me: Straight

Woman4: "Call me tomorrow!" *kisses me on the cheek*
Me: *calls her the next day and line is disconnected* *tries to email, but the email address no longer exists*

Thinking back, I believe this was my only rejection. I met this person through the insistence of a coworker, and as a first date he suggested a movie (I thought I would withhold any judgments off the bat).

He came to my house riding a bike and wearing flip flops, both of which I thought were cute in a "shake my head eyerolling" sort of way, but again I caught myself and lay my judgmental self to rest. Well, there was no way we would reach the theater on his bike, unless I would ride the handlebars or something, so I told him I would drive and he could choose if we took my car (an IS300) or my motorbike (a 748, biposto ofc). Scratching his beard (have I told you how I feel about facial hair?) he grins and tells me he'll take shotgun on my two wheeler.

I think, ok, it's never happened before (I don't know why but I've found guys are pretty apprehensive about riding shotgun on a crotch rocket) but what could possibly go wrong? So we get on and I zip out.

I have a habit of going pretty fast. I have gotten a few speeding tickets and I'm on probation but I have a hard time internalizing that (I admit I have some issues). I've also gotten in a pretty nasty accident pretty early on (I was 17) when a driver decided to get vindictive because I'd passed him. So when I do change lanes, I have a habit of making abrupt, unannounced, and sharp attitude changes and I've been told a few times by friends that I stress them out when I'm driving and they think I'm going to kill them even just going down a few blocks.

So the ride doesn't last 10 minutes and we reach the theater. We get off and my date is looking down on his cream khakis and there's a big wet spot around his crotch area. I immediately check my dress and my bike seat and he's gotten a tiny bit on us too. So I look at him and I'm dying to know what I did, but I offer to drive back so that he could change and we could come back and watch the movie or do something else. And to my complete surprise, he flat out refuses and says he'll find his way back and would like to call it an evening.

I try to stay away from using lies to telling someone that I'm not interested in them, but sometimes lies help insulate you from saying things you feel might hurt the person even more. It's not a perfect system..

I was once at some party, and a friend wanted to introduce me to some girl she knew, so she brings her over and we go over the customary "Hi, I'm X", "Hi, I'm Y", followed by two kisses on the cheeks (as it's done where I come from).

I had a beard, and she reacts to the cheek kissing with an "Oh your beard pinches". Which instantly triggers my obnoxious mode, and I blurt out "Well, my ex-girlfriend enjoyed how my beard tingled her pussy while I ate her" (something I just made up on the spot).

So she says "Ok, I'm going to go get a drink now, stay right here, don't move, I'll be back in a minute" ...

This was a while ago, I was dragged to some party and I don't know a single person aside from the hostess and her boytoyfriend.

So I do the sensible thing and introduce myself to people. But when I come up to this trio of girls.

Me: Hi.
One of the girls: I have a boyfriend.
Me: I said hi. Not suck my d*ck.

With that said, I walked off and enjoyed a rather fun evening.

I'm embarrassed to even tell this story lol but I will for the good of the thread.

It is summer. 1999. I was 12. I had the hugest crush ever on this boy that lived in my building. He was 17. Glorious red hair and green eyes. I would watch him sneak away to smoke cigarettes behind the garages. He was so cool. Everything I ever wanted my entire life. But he didn't know I existed. I would lay in bed, twisting my hair around my finger and dream up ways to make him see.

One day I got up the courage to write him a note. I had thought for a long time about what to put in it. Guys like sex, I reasoned. I'll make it a sexy note. And so it was. I ran outside and caught him returning from a walk. I said "here! This is for you! But you can't read it now." Terrified and giddy, I ran away up to my room to wait.

Sure enough, a seeming enternity later, a knock came at our door. I gasped with excitement and darted out of the room. My dad stood at the door and beyond it was my love and HIS dad. His dad held a note. My note! I was completely petrified! How could this be? How could he betray my love like this. He looked visibly uncomfortable he clearly did not share my feelings.

The punishment my parents doled out to me was harsh. But I barely noticed. Nothing could compare to the emptiness of my heart. I listened to my rock albums and hated the cruelty of fate and life for weeks.

Stupid boys!

Sometimes I wonder why parents have to be so needlessly cruel when it comes to notes like that.

Oh wait, I know. Nobody involved will ever forget for various reasons... Lol

only one real rejection I can recall, aside form the 'I only like you as a friend' crap.

This was in 98 I think, or 97.. anyway I digress. I was camping with my dad, some family members and my two best buds at the time. We were swimming at the swimming hole and there was two very attractive ladies, I assumed around my age, I was either 16 or 17 at the time, anyway. One of my friends dared me to say hi, at the time I needed a bit of a push to try something, and being a thin as a rail geek.. oddly was the only one with any backbone too.. anyway. I was climbing up some rocks just having gotten out of the water, they were walking by and I casually said 'hello' the older of the two, I assumed around 17, looked me up and down scoffed and went 'in your dreams' and kept walking. I kinda scratched my head and went "really to a simple hi?!?" I shrugged it off, and started to head back to camp, as I was walking about I saw another pretty lady and decided 'meh two times in one day.. sure." my buddy was with me and I walked up and said hi. To my surprise she said hi back and I wound up having a 45 min long conversation with a single 28 year old. Completely out of my league but at least she was nice about it.

So I guess I won in the end? maybe.. *shrugs*

Almost a rejection in and of itself.

Ya know, now that I think about I don't think I've been rejected perse. I friendzoned a girl once tho on accident and felt like the worst person ever when I realized I did and just wanted to hug her, but she lived in Ohio. Thankfully she moved on and so did my guilt.

Okay no wait does this count?

Girl I met in EVE lied about her age (21 when I was 18, she was actually a month from 18 herself) and when we started getting close she claimed to have a fiance. Crushed me but I hung around cause I valued the friendship that much.

Years later finally admitted to both lies and gave in to having mutual feelings for me. However the long distance was shallow and taxing to us both. Rather not have anyone than have someone you can't hug was the reasoning. So we're just really close friends now and I talk to her regularly, intent on one day closing that gap.

I've told a much longer and detailed version of this story to people and have had nearly all of them respond that I need to write a romance novel about it >.>
