career as a mercenary is pretty realistic in a capitalist type of system.

empower and give FC's and organizers in the game a way to distribute isk reward for people to join their fleets.

the simplest in-game-mechanic i can think of is ability to create 1-3 hour pvp contracts with the person you are hiring. If the soldier breaks his pvp contract (maybe real life stuff came up and he has to leave the fleet) then he has to pay back the isk he received upon accepting the contract (otherwise it will leave a permanent mark on his bio that he hasnt paid back somebody in full and that he still owes somebody a certain amount of isk). the longer you stay in fleet the more of that isk you are entitled to. If FC feels cheated somehow (maybe you stayed docked the whole time) then he can comment that on your bio where the pvp contract is shown.

the pvp contract also shows what ships were flown by you during the contract and the killmails involved

thats what i like about this idea, it leaves a lot for the players to figure out between themselves. as far as using tatoos to make a point, who says that the tatoo artist wont have consequences if he does a bad job and is abusive

Or you could simply pay an initial retainer, with an agreed upon addition bonus for amount of damage done, to be paid upon job completion.

That way you have to trust them with the retainer, and then have to trust that you pay the agreed bonus at the end.

Then if they take your money and run, you go to Crimes and Punishment and tell everyone they can't be trusted.

If you pay their retainer and not their bonus, they come **** you up for it.

Tis the tradition. We don't need an in game special magically enforced system for an existing system. Especially not when it's as open to abuse as your idea is.

Nope player deals need to be handled by the players not by some enforced system cheating and stealing are some of the big selling points of this game and it should stay that way

I think I prefer the systems that have grown up between the merc corps and their customers to be honest, why sweep away what players have built up over the years?

Not supported.

Good point and i totally agree, but its also requires a lot of effort and knowledge/wisdom before you can pursue this career confidently, which is a problem because the core of the game is the wide range of careers one can pursue when you get tired of your current schemes and tactics. Plus not everyone enjoys the heavy amount of social interaction it requires to be part of that sort of gang, some people like me enjoys a low commitmwnt type of drop-in events platform, if that makes any sense

Actually i think this system will greatly increase amount of player deals, as well as increase the depth at which those deals can play out
