Seriously, just use Arial, Tahoma or some sort of San Serif.

Heh, they even agree that the font doesn't look very "SciFi", but I'll take readability over style in this case.

It doesn't even need to be sci-fi, just not look like something you would see on an Apple IIe or some crap. It's pretty horrible, makes the entire game look awful and it's no more readable than what we have now. Actually harder to read depending on how small you like your chat text.

I can't go along with you there, after struggling (a lot) this past year to read EVE text I'm not having any difficulties what-so-ever reading the new one.

That being said, I fully respect that everyone's eyes are different, and if they don't fall into the "normal" category others may have difficulties with it that I do not have.

It's actually very unreadable when you make it smaller. The spacing between the letters as certain sizes makes regular spaces indistinguishable, so everything looks like it was typed with no spaces.

This is the font I use for everything that would be a much better substitute:

I haven't had that issue at all. In fact, the difficulty reading the old font with my aging eyes is a reason why I haven't been playing EVE as much... That and Skyrim.

I probably haven't squeezed my font down that small and haven't noticed it. This thread will probably get CCP Punkturis attention on the issue. Sounds like spacing adjustments at least should be made.

I do like that font you linked, but the advertisement that pops up when you try to stop the deafeningly loud advertisement video is very annoying. Smile

This is exactly my problem. Because I use the font at small sizes, they needs to be at least as readable as the old one.

But now they don't. CCP has put in some nice small fonts into chat with wide letter spacings, why can't you put them into everywhere else in the UI?

Please don't make it another half-done updates. Please make the small font readable thanks.

Have to agree, the new font looks childish and is just as annoying as Comic Sans.

Yeah I try to maximize the amount of text in my chat windows because I have timestamps enabled and don't like having giant chat windows, my windows take up enough real estate as it is. http://www.randomhost.org/eveui.jpg - which is even worse when I pvp, b/c I have local right next to the fleet window squished in there and the scanner open where my cargo is.

Sorry about the advertisements, I use chrome and have all plugins disabled by default, so I never see the ads.

There is a size that makes it quite readable and still small, just not as small as I would like it, and the names of people speaking are almost indistinguishable from the chat text.

Bank Gothic LT is a good choice actually but I think too many people would QQ about it, although I usually set up windows to use that font for everything every time I get a new computer.

That's one really nice font !

I usually never pay attention to the font,
altough i recognize a bad one pretty easily. (haha ^^)

This one feels very good to my eyes,
it's clear and distinct.

I'll download it and give it a go.

Thanks ! :D

mr. OP

what fontsize are you using for your context menu? at least not the default one!

I would check myself to see what size is looking squashed like this but I'm at home and haven't gotten sisi set up there..

are you maybe scaling your UI to 90%?

Yes, I'm using UI 90%. And menu size 9.

The small fonts in chat (A- button) looks very nice compared to the same sized text anywhere else (the wide spacing is a NEED for the small text so +1 on that). Why you no make it universal?

That Bank Gothic is very nice and has a good "eve feel" about it. It's stylish, recognisable and easy on the eyes. I'd pay money to have that used.

You know I hated the new font on Sisi at first but now I got used to it. It's actually easier to read. Only problem now seems to be with the number 8 and the letter B.

90% scaling does not work the same as when you make the text smaller in chat.
This has been stated a few times on the forums as has it been explained that 90% is for those who are willing to loose some readability to more window space.

I think it's pretty unfair to post a pic of text where a lot has been changed in your settings (font size and scaling, specially 90% scaling) to prove your point of the font not being readable enough. If you want to use 90% scaling I recommend you use a larger fontsize in your context menus.

fly safe and have fun ms.!

I like it, as long as I dont mess with the UI size. When the UI is smaller, it made it a bit hard to read but not bad honestly.
