i have never seen anything even remotely like this before. i'm just completely lost on what to do

i dont have that extra tab on any of my accounts.....

Do you mean the hangars tab in the station panel? If so, it's a toggle-able feature in the ESC menu (general settings, Middle Collum 3. Option)
