Northern lights of Norway

You know, northern lights are one of the very few things I envy of living up there, environmentally speaking.

As for the OP video, I've been shocked. I didn't knew that auroras could do that (when they explode in waves of pink!) or shift so fast in real time. Shocked

This picture was taken yesterday close to Tromsø: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/t31.0-8/10828055_1424501434506821_39791079551320584_o.jpg

That's a pretty nice picture if you ask me. Actually, i was outside yesterday and saw some auroras, but it disapeared fast, so i believe that the aurora that was yesterday was earlier before i went outside.

Again we had a freaking amazing aurora show the 2 last days here in Tromsø. It was so intense here that the biggest Norwegian newssite in Norway called VG (www.vg.no) decided to put up a live streaming of the aurora on TV from Tromsø yesterday.

Here is the recorded live stream they had yesterday: http://www.vgtv.no/#!/video/105606/dette-har-aldri-vaert-sett-paa-direkte-tv-foer

It's spoken in Norwegian there, so you have to understand that to figure out what they are talking about. To bad the aurora wasn't very powerfull when they did the live streaming, but it's kinda hard to do a live streaming of the most powerfull auroras as they suddenly just comes and goes at random times.

Here is also a new picture that was taken the last 2 days: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7309753/Bilder/10390459_881525568547250_5307877964046274778_n.jpg

To bad i couldn't find a bigger and better picture of that. But it still looks really nice.

This is something you don't see often when it's about filming the northern lights: http://www.nrk.no/nordnytt/glem-elg-i-solnedgang-_-her-danser-nordlyset-med-reinen-1.12133512

Just watch the video on top of that link.

It's written in Norwegian, but it's taken in Tromsø where i live at the same time with some reindeers Big smile.

Yesterday was really great for me. Me and a friend decided to go on a little tent trip to a little water here. We do this type of trips from time to time to chill out in the nature.

What was so special about yesterday is that there was biting cold, no clouds and it was almost no lights to be seen which made it pretty easy to see tons of stars as it was pretty dark. Not only did we lay down on the ground to watch for shooting stars (it's like 10+ years since i did watch for that last time), but we did see the northern lights at the same time to.

Here we was sitting with out little campfire chillin out there and drinking some alcohol while watching the cool stuffs in the skyTwisted. Ofc it was me that took the picture.

The feeling of seeing both the shooting stars and the northern lights at the same time is pretty exciting.

Time for some new super duper awesome pictures of auroras Big smile.

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7567/15898989349_e37c6a33dd_o.jpg

And those 2 last pictures says more than a thousand words.

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7577/16048843046_0f643604c9_o.jpg

And everyone of those pictures here is again taken in Tromsø or close to Tromsø.

Now, you might wonder, why isn't i'm posting pictures that i have taken my self from this as i'm so intrested in this?

That's because i don't have a camera (except for the camera on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4) that is capable of taking pictures of the auroras now. So buying a good camera that can take pictures of this, or even filming the auroras is something i might consider buying.

The thing is that if i have had a camera for this, i would basicly be living outside taking pictures and filming the auroras now. Tromsø is a perfect place for doing that as we have the ability to see and experience the auroras for about 6-7 months every year because of the darker times we have here.

I've been to Norway twice, but always during summer and in the most southern half (Oslo, Rjukan, Gala, Voss, Bergen, Alesund amongst others).

Like I said before, I'll endeavour to go further north during winter. One day. Smile

Heh, i just found this video that are filmed in Sweden and in Tromsø. The guy who are filming there are trying to find out if the GoPro 4 camera is good enough to capture the auroras.

I'm in Philadelphia. The northern lights here are streetlights. Ugly yellow ones, or dim old ones depending on your viewing location.
