Engaging Wormhole Camps

o/ wormhole people!

I had a very interesting engagement with a brave wormhole camp the other day. Both fleets unable to kill each other. It was silly to begin with, as brave shot an uncloaked bomber on the high sec side of the hole, getting 2 or 3 of there ships concorded. Our fleet collected itself and it was time to engage in wormhole space. We jump in, and after 45 seconds of watching with natural cloak we started shooting. The brave FC had a good understanding of the mechanics of W space, jumping an orca in and out, sitting it on the high sec side ready to collapse the hole as soon as we all jumped in(thank fully that didnt happen). The actual fight lasted all of 2 minutes. Nothing died but a brave destroyer. Brave would not leave the 5k jump range of the hole. We almost killed alot of stuff, but every ship jumped.

I love W space, and busting camps, but i'm scratching my head on how to engage something like this. I tried to MWD away and bait them off but that didn't work. I could not find a way to kill anything without it jumping though.

TL;DR
i want to be a l33t FC, need help
How do i engage a hole camp with a fleet, especially when the other side of the hole is highsec.

I have a liquid nitrogen cooled fedora storage unit. Test me.

I usually just ignore anyone that wont come off a highsec. Poke them a bit, but if they wont commit there is not much point to it. You could try baiting them somewhere else in the system. They will know your bait is a trap but its still fun to show them what they want to see and enjoy the moment of them wondering why they are there and being confronted by the uselessness of their actions. If you need the hole for hauling just sit a couple of sleps on it and generally they wont be heard from again.

For the most part fighting on a highsec is even more useless than playing station games.

90 percent webs will make boating back to the hole a fairly difficult prospect. Honestly though if a group is on the ball you shouldn't ever die on a highsec hole. That said people overestimate how much structure they have. Heating just before armor fails can net you some slow reactors.

Really well-timed bumps work since people think they are safe and try to jump as late as possible. Combined with coordinated shots, heat and webs, 90% prefered.
Otherwise just warp in outside of pointrange and post the come-at-me-owl in local.

Camps of all forms, including station games are the most stupid and stale form of pvp IMO. Maby it's just the inexperienced pvp:ers who resort to it because the safety of highsec / station or whatever.

Risk adverse PvP in a wormhole is really sad...

Engaging in a highsec hole is pretty pointless unless they polarize themselves.

Fyi, good catch as the orca was planning on rolling you into the hole collapsing the exit.

Unless you had a lot of guys that orca was at no risk of dying.

Just messing around :-)

Yaay!!!!

This. You can try bumping them out of jump range and then apply scram/web to keep them from getting back into jump range.

Otherwise, the only thing that might work in this instance is having some high alpha ships warpin at range on the wh side and try to alpha a target(s) before they jump out. But otherwise, it's literally Station Games in wspace.

Much hate for this.

Properly positioned it isn't impossible. But so situationally dependant (and positioning of hostiles) that it's basically never worth attempting :/

You could try bombing them out of the wormhole, then baiting them back in with a tempting ship. force them to get polarized. but if they're smart they'll have accounted for polarized timers and probably won't work.

However if i HAD to try something it would be that.

If you know that there is some entity around that may form up to fight or gank you, but they have not seen you or they have't seen much of your guys, you can always try and #YOLO the tankiest ship with self-reps into the combat anomaly, have a lot of refits in the cargo and drop a Depot+MTU and pretend you are doing sites, have a interdictor and HIC ready 1 jump/1warp away, and when you see them coming for your "PvE ship" go in bubble them and start the fight. Pretty much anyone will go for that if properly setup.

I'd suggest doing a quick homework on them so you know what to expect, and possibly a pve ship should be marauder, the one that is gonna fit your fleets type (shield/armor).

drop a potato 80km off the hole and just wait. no one can resist a potato.

You're young, you'll adjust. I'm old, I'll get used to it.
