The player always gets the "final blow" and not the npc, even if you use just a target painter on your target and deal 0 damage.

The fact that your Mackinaw "was in a helluva mess" from just one Catalyst already means that you're doing something terribly wrong. But why worry about putting defensive modules on your ship, when CCP can just nerf ganking/buff CONCORD some more instead?

Congrats on getting a kill mail and everything, but you really should look into ways of not making this a problem to begin with.

Your post made me think (I hate that, it hurts) and I went back and checked his fit and it wasn't all that impressive. I keep my miners fairly well tanked so no, he should not have done as much damage as he did in that short of time. I'm thinking he exploded close aboard my Mac and that's what caused my damage, not so much his popgun weapons. Thinking further that may just be a ganker tactic, get close, get blown up, kill the wretch. I don't know, what's the thinking on this? And yes, this is a polite forum, so gankers (former/present) can post.

You get a kill right on someone if they attack your pod. They don't have to blow your pod up, just do damage to it.

CCP's true, butthurt, colors.

Because those who can't do themselves keep others from doing too.

You can't damage other players with the explosion your ship makes when it's destroyed.

The fact of the matter is that ganking entails a very linear DPS/EHP calculation process. If he came close to killing you, then his math was close too. If you want more in-depth help, post the fit that you use to mine.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Fit used is in the 600-700dps range.

@OP: Use skiffs.
