I like to mine and lightly trade (not station) as it's fun and relaxing while I study.
I have a little group of miners (4) and currently run HS lvl 4's (it was a grind getting standings) in .5
(They are training up now, but still in Ventures Sad) I plan to make them 3 barges and 1 orca.

Questions for long term game play, for those who have experience running these type of missions.

1) Are Null Sec Mining Missions much better pay. Right now it's around 4k to 5k LP each?
2) Is the cost to join an alliance reasonable enough to balance out the better pay?
3) Are there any good mining corps you know of that run in Null that will take new players. I don't want to mine real ore, just missions. I started my own little corp to save taxes.

Thanks

Get Mining Connections IV, which is pretty quick to do, and you'll be looking at 6 - 7k LP in 0.5 system. Go Thukkers and the LP are worth more than the standard mining corps, which are good anyway vs. Navy LP. Get high faction and you can cherry pick all the ice and gas missions (which take 20 mins or so) and serial decline all the rest.

Null sec mining missions will pay more LP and ORE have a good LP store. The downside is that their agents are in Cloud Ring, Outer Ring which is NPC null sec and a bit of a combat zone. So you don't have the protection of sov owners and need to stay frosty or get pally with the locals.

2) Is the cost to join an alliance reasonable enough to balance out the better pay?

All (afaik) of the renter alliances, where you pay to join are based in sov space, which is not where the null sec mining agents are. However, renters may be looking for miners, you'd need to do some research in the Recruitment forum.

There are players that mine in null sec, they tend to keep a low profile, for obvious reasons, but they mine real ore not the fake ore in missions. Research is again the best bet.

You may want to check out the Orca guide:

Also, Eve University is a great place to learn about Eve. You'll also meet some great people and be better prepared when you decide you want to do more than run mining missions.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.
