I'm curious about mining in wormholes. Do people export the raw stuff that they mine or is it compressed or reprocessed or repackaged (or whatever happens to that stuff)? Forgive my ignorance on the topic but I want to understand the logistics of wormhole mining and export - ta.

Logistics is a f'king nightmare. I can't come up with any good reason to ever mine in wormholes.

I agree. But people DO mine in wormholes and I want to know what they do. Perhaps it is all used in the wormhole for production.

Logistics are just logistics, but the main obstacle to mining is the availability of ore- only anomalies, and mining in your static isn't very practical. Means there might be nothing to mine for weeks.

I guess you would compress it if you hauled it out in serious quantities, making logistics hardly an issue.

I mine just to get minerals easily for personal use, beats buying from hisec miners and hauling it in.

I personally mine as bait. But there are often times no one takes the bait so I have a lot of ore built up. We recently put up a mobile compression unit and logistically it's been cake.

^ This. The only time someone should be mining in a WH is if they have a clean pod and warp in and leave their computer.

Due to the bloodthirsty nature of wspace capsuleers, this is the best mindset to have.

That said, logistically it shouldn't be that much of an issue if you are serious about mining.

1. Mine Ore
2. Compress Ore
3. Miasmos x "Ore m3/63,000" out of the hole to kspace
3a. DST x "Ore m3/60,000" out of the hole to kspace
4. Ice or fuel blocks on the return trip in
5. ????
6. You were flying out to kspace anyways, might as well make use of the trip(s).

I'm right behind you

there are few ways what happens to ore

way 1.
mined ore is brought to pos into reprocessing array
ore after reprocssing is turning into minerals
once X amount minerals is stored , players decide to build ship, eweapons, shield or armor hardeners

way 2.
people mine the ore and bring to pos compressing array
raw ore is turned into compressed and now can be hauled out to highsec/lowsec for sale

in general DO NOT mine in wormhole unless you have alts/friends watching holes
mining in wormhole is not best way to make isk but can be tricky especially in highsec you wont find abc ores , all wormhole classes has abc ore and mining in wormhole is same as mining in nullsec , just theres no local so you dont know if someone following you.

gas mining.
generally gas in c1 c2 not much profitable but if notthing left to do then its good . best gas you will find in class 5 and class 6 wormhole be aware that ninja mining gas is not bad but someone can foecefully pull you out so hit dscan evry 2 seconds

why mining in wormhole is good?
- abc ores so means zydrine and megacyte minerals for you , you are building an machariel, bhaalgorn in highsec and you cry to buy megacyte/zydrine - rest ore you can mine normally if you mine in wormhole will be no problem for you
- good place to meet new people
- easy decapsulation.

why mining in wormhole is bad
- there can be cloaky proteus 4000m from you wanting to kill you
- if you didnt clear sleepers , they will clear for you off your ship.
- you mine in your ore site , next day you find that only veldspar left , your ore was stolen!
- you will be easy target if you are barging dscan may not save you from stealth bomber that can hit and run

where to mine ore?
- class 1 and class 2 wormhole are "safest" but you still will be killed if you wont keep dscan runnin
- if you have friend in wormhole , and friend corp does not use the ore you could get chance to use the ore but you have to defend on your own.
-use venture / prospect in most situations mining barge will work but you need to hit dscan often and have ats on holes if you hear wormhole weird sound - time to warp. .

good quantity ore site in low-end wormholes c1 and c2
- unexceptional frontier deposits .
that ore site holds a decent amount of arknor bistot and crockite also spoundan hedbergite and hemorphite. quite good portion of other ore too including gneiss and jaspet but first wait 20minutes off , kill sleepers, then mine your ore

what else?
feel free to do mining in wormhole, you are doing it at your own risk, howewer CODE doesnt gank in wspace so dont need permits

The only important thing you should have mentioned here is mining in a WH is really fuckingshitISK compared to every other thing you could shoot at to get ISK....

Is your ore being stolen in a wormhole actually a legitimate con? I mean ore theft in wormholes is a thing?!?

And this is still laughable, as in the time it took to mine that ABC ore, refine it, haul it to your HS builder, you could have run a few anoms and bought 10X as much.

when was living solo for lulz c1 wormhole one day had 15 prospects and absolution on dscan and my ore site was stripped of anything valuable even they didnt leave piece of jaspet :(

i mined abc ores and refined at pos to build some ships lthat was selling in highsecs, atleast had no problem getting zydrine, megacyte, isogen et. there was all kind of ore even kermite and veldspar so i had no problems

I can't disagree with anything that's been said so far, but I do mine in my wormhole, despite those truths.

As long as you have access to combat anomalies or sleeper data/relic sites you will make more money running them and looting them, even if you don't hack anything in the data/relics. If you can run and loot at least two anoms per hour you are talking at least 30m ISK in a C1 or C2, this is after the recent loot buy order changes. And as an example, when I run C2 sites in a Drake and loot/salvage in a frigate with no tractor beams the easiest site in a C2 is about 30 minutes total. So it's doable even without a T3 and a Noctis.

I don't think 30m ISK/hr is doable with a single unboosted mining barge, maybe with an Exhumer. Even so the ore field is limited and lasts 3 days if you catch it before the despawn timer kicks in or somebody else warps to it and starts the timer. Given the options I'd rather be in a Drake or a T3 running sites when it's purely about ISK/hr efficiency. It's safer to mine in a Venture or Prospect but we're talking a much reduced ISK/hr rate. My Venture, mining the most valuable ore (by ISK/m3) mines about 7m ISK/hr if I'm operating at peak efficiency.

With that said, there are a few reasons I do it anyway. The first is that when I moved into this wormhole I wanted to mine the ores that are rare in null, compress them, and try to put them up for sale in NPC null areas. Not because this would be wildly profitable, but because I wanted to see what would happen. Would people go there to pay a premium for these ores after the jump changes went in? At the speed I'm mining it will be a while before I have enough to haul out and test the theory, and I want to find the right null exit for that. I still have research to do on jump ranges and where the best place to put it up is.

The second reason is that sometimes I want to login and do something easy with low risk, but still have it contribute to the bottom line. Whether I'm busy forum warrioring, facebooking, or whatever... spamming d-scan, checking the overview and the ore hold is pretty easy, and a good habit to practice anyway. So I do that. Mostly to get Kernite or Gneiss, which are the highest ISK/m3 ores I've seen in my hole.

The last reason is to build ammo. My POS guns use EMP L and my Drake uses Scourge Heavy MIssiles. I build those inside so I can focus my hauling trips on bringing in fuel or other needs.

Now that IS Boxer is being nerfed and we have entered a period of higher ore prices due to rampant speculation that no one mines in hisec except IS Boxing hordes of idiots, you may find it is more profitable to mine in w-space.

30M ISk an hour may sound like chickenfeed to us barnacle-ridden, urine-soaked bittervet types who have figured out how to make 100-550M an hour via various means. But to newbros, they can access 8 hours, or quarter of a billion ISK, in simple, brainless, easymode F1 AFK content which takes at most 1 week's training into a Retty.

They may get clobbered on hour #1. Bad luck.

Hour 2 and they are ahead on the equation 30M ISK. That's better than humping L1 and L2 missions and losing frigs, dessies and cruisers day in and day out.

Hour 3 and they're ahead of the game, big time.

After a week, it's time for a Storyline Green Machine triple-tanked Megathron Navy Issue, boys.

If you refine at a POS you get 76.4% (50%+4%) if using an intensive reprocessing array - That's perfect skills+4% implant

which is a bit better than the 72.4% you would get in HiSec with the same skills/implant.

I live in a c4 and yes people do mine in wh's. The raw ore is compressed and hauled out through our static's. The effort is very worth it it's brought to home station and refined by a pilot with perfect refining skills, then the ore is contract hauled to jita, weekly. The corp-members get payed for the refined value of the ore, the corp purchases the ore and compresses what it does not need for manufacturing that week. Sounds like a lot of hassle, but really isnt. Reason why is, living in a wh you alwase have statics mapped out, and you know your exits ect.. and can alwase gain access to high-sec exits, or nul-low exits. So shipping is never an issue. This takes a lot of planning ahead of time and some corps spend years fine tuning how to be self sufficient in a wh and mining is absolutely a part of that overall plan.

You can mine in wormholes, and I've done it. But it's as boring as mining in highsec.

Retrievers, with naked clones if you plan on not paying attention. Procurers if you're quasi bating. Hulks if you just want to be bored to tears.

You will get podded, eventually.
