There is no post about this, so what the heck. I know there is talk in the summit, but this is for out of game talk.

Anyway if you all have not noticed, there is a new 'bright star' that can be seen all over the cluster. except wormholes it seems. IIRC the last time we saw a star like this was back in 2008/2007 and it was the prelude to the start of apocaryto. It had to do with an accident in a system, the star snuffed out, and shortly after we saw wormholes open up.

People speculate that its coming form jove, and some think its an explosion. Lets say it is, and lets say Sansha's Wormhole machine had an issue... could this mean the end of incursions? Or something else..?

Anyway i'm sure its related to the shattered holes coming in rhea, and now i'm rambling, but hey speculation is fun so yay!

While EVE's sandbox is indeed a real thing of beauty...

It all looks the same to me. The chances of me noticing another star appear let alone identify it in the sea of stars already there, which all look the same, are about the same as the chances of a man surviving being mauled by a shark, surviving a vending machine falling on him, then dying to an unknown antibiotic allergy while in hospital for surgery for these accidents, and all of that taking place within the space of half an hour. This also includes the odds of emergency services responding quickly enough.

Can you post a screenshot of it? I see far too many stars to make out a specific one.

For people scared of the Summit; The star was pointed out by some characters who went to the region to investigate why the Sansha had been seen suddenly getting the f*** out.

Nobody has yet found anything unusual other than the star. Although if it's actually related to the Sansha retreat or not who knows and since nobody was looking previously who's to say it wasn't already there and always had been?

Guess we'll find out eventually. Smile

There are some screenshot of the star in The Summit thread.

Right, I'm in Tash-Murkon, no wonder I can't see it, it's the other end of the cluster.

i
m in placid and i see it fine, its just small but tis the brightest star in the screen

Anyway, i remember they happening once before as i said like in 07/08 it was the prelude to wormholes, so i am sure it has to do with the shattered holes, but tis still kinda cool.

Chribba, you have a way to pull data form the old forums? I'd love to find one of the old threads about it.

I think I can see it from near Dodixie. Although because of the distances involved we're probably seeing something that happened at least thousands of years ago.

Guys.. guys.. its ok.. This is actually the new guys fault.

Have you ever wondered what happens to a station complex reactor when the new hire engineer tries to muddle through some very complex operations? Lets also say for sake of argument, that the same engineer recruit.. not looking at anyone in particular.. TED.. that guy right there (pointing at the bastard right now..).. decides to DIVIDE BY ZERO during critical reactor control interface reprogramming.. something HIS RESUME CLEARLY SAYS HE CAN DO..

Look, im making myself angry about this all over again. The good news is, everyone got out OK. The bad news is that IM DOWN A ******* STATION TED, YOU *******!!!!!!! What the **** is wrong with you? Everyone knows you CANT DIVIDE BY ZERO. This.. Ted.. is why we cant have nice things.

You see this Ted? This? Yeah.. Everyone thinks its some kinda lore thing going here Teddy Boy.. yeah.. Your **** up can literally be seen EVERYWHERE! The worst part about this.. its MY fingerprints all over this damn trainwreck of a disaster wrapped in WTF, fried and coated with a **** load of ARE YOU ******* KIDDING ME??!?!?!

You and you.. go fire Ted out of a festival launcher.. hes on time out.

Anyone know of a decent station for sale.. cheap? I don't care if its a fixer-upper. That's fine with me.

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, also looking for an engineer.. with MATH SKILLS.. and to a lesser extent must be able to fit in a festival launcher tube. No real reason there. None at all.

Hey.. look at that. Right there. Ha! Look at the expression frozen on his face.. What a douche right? Heh.. I know. Funny as hell. Ok ok.. who's idea was it to put him in the clown suit? Susan's? Oh Susan.. you are getting a raise for that one. Classic.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The star appears in the top-right corner of http://now.eveonline.com/ too, as some have just noticed- this is a planned thing... and it means something important- we just can't know yet.

(here's a reddit post with information)

The star is visible from any system in New Eden, it seems- and from all looks, it seems to be in W477-P, in the UUA-F4 region (the third cut-off region, not belonging to the Jovians).

The system, strangely enough, has had three jumps through it within the last day-and-a-half...

EDIT: It's ALSO visible in the Rhea feature page!

So what's the ISK value of gold, frankincense, and myrrh? Worthwhile to gank the three wise men on their way to this star?

Maybe this means we'll see the Yule Lads soon. :-)

I HAVE SEEN THE STAR!!!

I've also thought of a good name for it.

Bootini.

Like if you get it.

EDIT: Upon reflection, I realise this was used in the past before my EVE experience began, and may not be as amusing as I thought it'd be.

You know, I've just realised that his is probably related to the 2014 fanfest trailer as well, so I watched it again. If you watch the boarding sequence very carefully, you can see two small sleeper drones with the defending troops.
