Have missions gotten harder?

About 3 months ago when I unsubbed for a break, missions for me were easy. My sleipnir and I could breeze through 90% of missions with little to no trouble. Now, I can't even do worlds collide or blockade or even friggin buzzkill without getting melted.

Has anything happened to missions since I left? Do I now HAVE to get a battleship?

Dumb question - did you forget to activate a module maybe? For instance if you rely on cap boosters to keep your tank going, forgetting to turn it on could screw you over pretty bad.

Isn't there some bug afoot about ship bonuses?

I'm hoping it's some kind of glitch. with 90% kin/therm resists, serps shouldn't be able to melt me in seconds, while my hyperion here can tank endlessly.

No....they are way too easy.

Edit - and yes, you really should be doing L4s in a battleship or T3. Why on earth would you use something else?

I did blockade level 3 last night and had no trouble tanking it but my Damnation was useless. A third of the NPCs were named with 95% resists and the repair cycles were almost back to back. I ended up bringing an Abaddon in to clear them. I could hit objects for over 6K volley's and it still took 5 to 6 to melt the named cruisers. Final spawn, they brought in tracking disruption and stacked them 4 at a time on me so I had to return to Damnation and missile/ Drone combo them down, pulling drones every 30 seconds or lose them.

"Hard"?

They have made them a pointless time drag.

I ended up getting a hyperion just so I could do this l4 blockade and i see it, even right in their faces it takes so many cycles to kill them.

Unless they did the change less than a week ago, then no, missions are not any harder. Are you remembering to tailor your resists to the specific NPCs you are fighting? Same goes for damage. Range can be a real factor as well.

Average mission time for a lvl3 in a tengu is 5mins, lvl4 is 10min
Average mission time for a lvl3 in a vargur is 5mins, lvl4 is 8min

If you are being melted either your cap broke or your tank is wrong....omni-tank is only for the max skilled, and even then it will get you killed if you don't pay attention.

I occasionally get sansha and serp mixed up, and have had some close calls because of it.

The resistance soft cap one? I thought they had that one fixed.

(basically, if your resistances hit above a certain mark, they were counted as zero, it was possible with some Deep Space Transports and some Command Ships)

I run level 4s in an assault frigate.

Problem?

I've been having issues with being bored out of my mind using a Gila for L4. nothing really stands a chance of killing me (except ishkurs + 20 catalyst warpin) but otherwise its just watch Dscan for probes, deploy drones, and click in space so I don't whack into anything.

I vaguely remember one kind of problem over the years and it pops up in the forums and maybe after some patches but basically it's when the ship lacks the kinds of bonus that a players skill would bring to it, like the percentage of repair per cycle based on skill for example.

Not as far as I've noticed, but then I've always run missions in a BS. A Raven in my average skilled alt gets the job done. The only thing going on is that loot is crap, which probably happens because of some interaction between player activity and dynamic loot tables.

I unsub for breaks pretty regular, you'd be amazed how much competence you can lose in a 3 month break.

people expect to be able to go at it like they used to before leaving. This surprises a lot of people who are unaware of the vast amount of player skill required to play eve.

Actually there are quite a few players taking even normal frigs in to L4s for the lols - has nothing to do with ego, being umber whatever or leet - just the fun factor. Try get a team of 4 or 5 in frigs and hit up an L4.

Yup. Ego has little to do with it. Running 3's and 4's in an AF is a blast. It's slower, so those who feel that ISK/hr is the only metric in the game worth considering are going to be baffled by the notion. On the other hand, mindlessly grinding out missions as fast as possible is not what I personally consider to be fun.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.
