+1 granted. I have been convinced!

1. yeah agreed

2. I forgot to type (or imply) that I'm willing to murder that clone.

I could see it this way:
You are putting in new implants, go to the station surgery and while they are there they can take out the old ones. There would be a chance the old ones get damage to a point of being unusable in the process.

It's a cool idea thematically, but implants are a great LP/ISK sink; removing them from the game entirely via podding sustains demand. Even if it is only a chance for recovering them, you are directly messing with a few professions at once. Why buy new when you can buy used?

Hence some voices in your head and creepy factor with blood covered icons and such.

However, you could make them poor man's implants with some degredation of their effectiveness also.
The main thing would be subsidising null sec so it helps to flesh out these null trade hubs that CCP keeps wanting.

The implant system is already sufficiently complex and there are already tons of variety of implants, having degraded versions would simply compound and overcomplicate something. I suppose you could counter-propose that each implant simply loses a level (+5 to +4, +3% to a +2%), but then you run into edge cases where things don't even exist, i.e. unique implants or ultra-low-grade slaves. If you aren't extracting exactly what's there it simply adds too many things for not much enhancement of game play. This would also necessitate that scooping a corpse gets you a suspect flag at the least.

These also wouldn't subsidize anything. The people it would hurt most is HS mission runners selling implants to a now slightly more saturated market.

Using the parent item, you can generate a child case with

If implant_salvaged then (stats * 0.9)

For example. Seems a lot of null pilots fly with empty heads or pick CTAs and a few choice fleets to jump clones and join.

Still a no from me, ignoring the effect of the brain fry any kind of wetware built into your head will be completely screwed when your corpse is freeze-dried in space, the effect of you body fluids boiling of in the cold hard void of space within seconds would completely wreck any delicate bio-mechanical materials. It would also mess with the PI market since these are the things used to make implants in the first place.

Few changes are without impact. I feel it would add to the game, make the kills more enjoyable. Another facet. The two fold destruction means it won't be that many and that can be tweaked.

I have also added another layout to the OP, which should make the market more clear for implants and hardwires.

Actually i've only really commented on this based on lore issues (which I find important as I like the story side of things too). -1 as you no doubt gues as this breaks a good isk sink, messes with the PI market, messes with people selling implants and messes with the loot values since the implant/bpc drops would devalue too.

At most this *might* work as a reverse engineering job using the corpse to get a BPC for an implant, maybe using the corpse and multiple PI goods (nanites for a start) to extract anything useful. Grade of implant should always be less than the previously installed one. I'm just very wary that this will highly favour older richer players with massive corpsicle collections...

I find this interesting. As for the older players, I don't think they would have the data to fill those bodies, so it would only be going forward from the patch.

I think the market tree for the implants should be used even if the corpse harvesting is not.

cool idea. problem would be that highsec griefers/pirates will pod people even more often than they do now because it will be more profitable, but to be honest the anti-gank community would probably respond and compete to salvage those implants before the pirate alts get to them. so in other words in terms of piracy this idea wont create as much chaos as one would think

I have a container filled with the corpses of my fallen friends and foes in the same container filled with liqor and drugs and exotic dancers.

In another container i got homless and a single bottle of booze, lets call that my charity work of the year.

Besides, the old body is like a bit of hair, toe nail or finger nail. Once you are detached from it you couldn't care about it, maybe play with it, pose together and take some pictures.

I would suggest to recover other valuable raw materials from dead bodies, e.g. water (required for gas reactions). Instead of flying through a gate camp to reach Jita for purchasing water I could also use the gate camp as source for my required materials. Twisted

Read the OP. The latest one was locked and this had some aspects that were not covered there. It would probably be more confusing for people to read an OP then have everyone responding to a post somewhere in the middle even if it were not. Roll
