Good Morning All

I am sending this out as preliminary notice that I, and the other ex-members of SYNE intend to convene the 4th Seyllin Conference.

Though SYNE today is just a name belonging to a memory, we are eager to keep alive one of our chiefest contributions. The conference will still bear our mark, but there will be appropriate changes detailed below.

Why now you may ask, well doubtless you have been keeping an eye on current events. Scientifically it's an exciting time, and we hope that this conference will be yet another opportunity for people to share their wealth of knowledge with the wider community.

Things are still being planned, and we will likely post the full schedule separately. Also, while we are currently not focussing on any particular area or event, current events may change that. There will most certainly be more details to follow, and we will publish a detailed itinerary at a later date.

What is The Seyllin Conference?

The Seyllin Conference is a gathering of people, primarily capsuleers, with an interest in scientific discoveries, phenomena, and their impacts big or small among humanity. It is also generally in the spirit of promoting clusterwide stability and promoting the survival of humanity as a species. In previous years, there was also a strong focus on the war with Sansha's Nation, however this year that topic will likely be less prominent due to current events and the nature of the new conference.

We're not neccessarily looking for completed projects or theories, the conference is aout discovery after all. If you've observed something you have no idea about, here is the place to present what you know so far and seek answers.

Each topic will be presented by one or more speakers, the Chairman (myself) will allow questions at appropriate times and at the end of each presentation, the ideas are up for full discussion.

For a little more information, please take a look at this link: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Seyllin Conferences.

When is it being held? Can I come?

Our hope is for the conference to be held in late January or mid February. We think this is adequate time to prepare the venue and for anyone interested in presenting to finish and submit their idea.

We are aiming to have a two-day conference as with previous events, but it will most definitely be on a weekend.

Attendance will be free, open and unrestricted, with the caveat that all attendees will agree by default to caution, orderliness and general politeness when it comes to politics and beliefs. Be reassured though, with presentations, as long as they are in the spirit of the dissemination of knowledge, responsible proliferation of technology and the search of scientific truth, there is no reason to reject an idea outright. All comers will be considered

I Would Like to Present A Topic

Excellent. The first thing I would recommend is to get an idea of the structure of your talk, make sure everything is prepared. When submissions open, submit a detailed but concise summary, in private, to the selection committee.

On they day, those topics chosen will have an allocated time of 20 minutes, 10 minutes to present and 10 for Q&A.

On that note, it bears mentioning while all topics have the right and will be considered on their merits, one with relevance to current events, or ones which have groundbreaking implications will have priority. However, we are considering conciliations to projects that do not make it to the main stage, such as fringe events or priority for a place at the next conference. Other options will be considered and suggestions are welcome. We do not wish alienate anyone with an idea.

As mentioned before, there will be a selection committee established, of which the majority will be those with no relationship to SYNE. Names are pending, but there will be no more than 7 members, and no fewer than 3. Members of the selection committee will be forbidden from making presentations, or using proxies to present on their behalf. I will mail out to people to ask, but if you wish to volunteer yourself, please do mail me. Key votes and opinions of the committee will be freely available.

I Don't Have a Presentation, But I Still Want to Help

Well as mentioned before there will be a committee to select topics, but there will be a need for staffers, and organisers ((channel mods)). Like the committee, they will not be allowed to make a presentation. Also, anyone wanting to provide entertainment for the social side would be welcome.

It is my sincere hope to see a big turnout when the conference comes, and I hope to be receiving ideas and plans from the wider community soon.

I look forward to seeing all of you.

I hope I can make it. There will be a lot to talk about from many people I imagine. One question, who are the selection committee?

I do apologise, I'd hoped it was clear in the OP. The Selection Committee has yet to be, well... selected.

It's our hope that the majority of this committee will not be members of the SYNE that closed down this year. I have names in mind, but any volunteers are of course welcome

There is a price of course, committee members have an absolute ban on presenting topics or having someone present on their behalf. The intention is to have a variety of people so as to ensure maximum impartiality.

I should also mention that the committee members may double up as moderators if the need arises. I myself will be the general chair, but I'm hoping to spread out the roles

I could give a talk on the structure and nature of wormholes. It wasn't a large part of my doctorate thesis but I do have a significant knowledge of quantum physics.

Perfect timing. An associate and I are working on some research proposals at the moment, and I am more than happy to modify our documents to be of a more educational nature.

The topics we are discussing currently:
-How the Seyllin event ties into a "Network Model" for wormholes.
-Sansha Wormholes and how they prove or disprove the Network Model.
-Theories on how the wormhole network is powered.
-A Proposal on testing the Network Model theory.

I will be preparing short documents prior to the event as well. With luck I should be finished with the first batch in the next two weeks.

Depending on the next few weeks and my schedule as it aligns with the conference, I may or may not be able to participate.

I will be happy to assist with site security as a staffer.

Sriman N'Maro Makari,

It have been a long time, old friend. I am thrilled that you are doing well and you are continuing the Seyllin Conference. I remember when we were discussing the organization of the fourth SeyCon around the time SYNE closed and my offer to lecture on the nature of the Sleepers still stands.

I believe I expressed an offer to assist with organization, staffing, and/or the selection committee last time this was attempted. If I did, it still stands. If I did not, consider it made.

Thank you all for the interest expressed here.

While the committee is not yet up and running fully, anyone expressing an interest in presenting here will receive a mail from one of us, inviting them to give a detailed but concise summary of their talk when we're open for submissions.

By the way, we don't wish to have just a university lecture, so if you have any visual aids, physical objects or anything that may enrich your presentation, please do feel free. But do try to keep audience safety in mind.

I would like to present a topic, dedicated to recent events and for promoting the survival of humanity.
When the submissions will be open?

Also I am interested in all anti-Sansha topics and wormhole science and I would like to participate in discussion as well.
