Possible Tweak to tactics involving Drones?

After having flown in a few Null sec fleets, and more recently incursions, I've notice a trend involving drones that's been bugging me lately.

Yes I'm talking about having all the people in the fleet assist their combat drones to one player.

At first I didn't think much of it, but in light of the changes to destroyers in the upcoming expansion I've begun to ponder. As such I've come to the conclusion that the ability to assist's one drones to another player is to powerful and it probably would be best to remove it.

So thoughts?

I don't see a correlation between upcoming destroyer buffs and assigning drones.

Well what is the intended role of Destroyers? The answer is to act as a defense against enemy frigates, heck it's even in the descriptions of the ships.

But why would you even bother to bring a destroyer in a fleet if you could get the same results by having all the pilots assist their drones to an interceptor?

An Interceptor with the 35 light drones assisted to them has an easier time performing the job that was intended for destroyers.

Turret BCs also tend to encroach on this role, but I think that's a matter of the difference of turrets sig res to ship sig not playing an important enough role.

They removed the 25% rate f fire penalty because they felt it wasn't performing its role well enough. In my opinion it's not that the destroyers aren't good at killing frigates, but that other ships and assisting drones to a faster locking ship works better.

Destroyers don't have a place in 0.0 fleets because the pilot is better off in some other kind of ship in 99% of circumstances - their small tackle killing role is obsolete not because assigned drones are better at it, but because once you have sufficient tackle of your own you want everyone in DPS ships because that's what wins fights.

Furthermore, drones are typically assigned to tackle not because this is the best way to clear frigates off the field but because it's the best use of the drones when you're busy following primaries and can't micro them yourself - 50+ drones racing after one target to another is actually a hideously inefficient use of those drones, they spend an inordinate amount of time in travel between widely spaced targets when you'd be better off having ten to fifteen drones going after each target.

In short, drone blobs get created because larger ships have drones and might as well do something with them, but if they didn't exist destroyers still wouldn't really be used.

Actually they are bit fixing this issue, by removing drones from dreads, titans and supercarriers.

They fixed earlier moros drones which got damage bonus without siege, so people used those with sentries assisted to fast tackle.

it is still quite valid tactic example sentry ishtars on range and drones assisted to fast tackle.
