EVE Online: Now with stickshift option

I think this is awesome.....

Although, I tend to think about pulling back on the stick to go up and forward to go down ....

But I can assign keys to make that happen. I started EVE in beta and have been back multiple times. I always thought click to move was not the best option. Glad WSAD is happening for movement.

It doesn't help at all, as soon as there is any form of advantage to wasd piloting it will be compulsory lest we get left behind, I love this game because it rewards tactics over twitching, this is one step closer to twitch gaming.

Yeah, I agree. I've never been a fan of twitch games, and Ive always loved how combat in Eve was more like an orchestrated, flowing thing (whatever the hell that means.)

So, I seriously hope that there's not gonna be any real advantage to flying this way, because if there is, as you said, I'll HAVE to start doing it too or forever be at a disadvantage.

That said, if it doesnt effect actual gameplay, then wth, I dont care. vOv

This news ruined my night, I really like the current system, it didn't stop 11 years worth of noobs getting involved in the game

I can almost feel the wrecking impact of this news on overly emotional dreamscape. The uncertainty, the fear! Downright nightmarish! Additional options THE HORROR!

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Think about this guys.

The reason why CCP wants to introduce the WSAD keys into the game is for people using that programme and to see if the players of EvE that uses that programme either using the manual controls or using the automatic controls.

This is a way CCP can catch people out using that programme.

As for one I do not have a need for such programme and I will never have a need for it.

Unless one day CCP decides to implement their own version of that programme into EvE.

That programme is called ISBOXER.

That is my thoughts why CCP want to implement the WSAD keys.

They are adding WASD keys for manual flight correction because new EVE people get confused when double clicking in space. Totally optional for bittervets, of course.

Will strafing allow for new content?

Can we out-Keanu missiles fired at ships?

Will this result in new fleet dance flash mob content?

Is this the end of EVE: Valkyrie?

Will we finally be able to post on the forums using a smartphone without having a nervous breakdown?

Is EVE dying?

I will use it, if my ship can bunny-hop over any bullets fired at me.

I'd love to see people's faces when they realize there's no strafing or barrel rolls...

Will be interesting to see what this does for Eve racing. Still would like those race-gate deployables like the old training courses in X-Wing and Tie Fighter.

Ok. Ive been thinking about this all day.

Before I start, I want one thing to be perfectly clear: I ******* love this WASD control thing, always wanted it. Finally I can do a ******* Barrel Roll.

Now that that is out of the way, I do have some concerns. namely one: That this is a huge **** you to existing players, and not in the way you think.

For years, WASD control capabilities have been suggested in F&I, and have been shot down repeatedly. I am guilty of shooting a few down myself. CCP has always maintained that WASD control capabilities weren't compatible with the 1Hz server ticks and blah blah latency excuses blah blah impossible or super hard for reasons and things. But now, a couple people go to CCP and play for 30 minutes.. probably mumble something once about WASD not working.. and ******* presto! WASD Control is being implemented.

CCP Nullarbor wrote:
Today I'm going to share with you an experiment that was born out of recent new player experience testing that we have been doing here at CCP HQ in Iceland.

Born out of new player testing? How about numerous F&I thread suggestions? Do existing players get any ******* credit for the idea, or shall we solely thank the 30 minute Eve focus group? Do existing players's suggestions even register on the radar anymore? Whats next? 30 minute focus groups by never-played-eve-before average joes on how to fix Sov or POSs?

Anyways, I guess im steamed by the wording of the devblog. A slight change recognizing the numerous requests of existing players would have been great, but since it didn't, all I can see is a huge middle finger to existing players, and its going to be really hard to give the finger back.. seeing as that it will soon be occupied by the W key.

To the ramparts!

We need to find out ahead of time when the next noob-off-the-street test is and have the noobs attempt to strafe a target when jammed and say "Hey, I can't activate my turrents when jammed? I should at least be able to have some kind of counter to being jammed instead of just sitting here".

And then that little problem changes in 2 seconds.
