I just saw the movie Interstellar, and there was one really cool reference to EVE on it. SPOILERS FOLLOW.

The premise of the movie is about going through a wormhole to another galaxy, and how humans are supposed to set up colonies out there to flee from a an Earth that is dying. There have been a few references online to how this is similar to EVE, but many people have said that this is just a coincidence and no part of Interstellar is meant to reference EVE in any way.

BUT....

In the movie where they explain what is going on and why Matthew McConaughey has to go to space, they state that aliens have made a wormhole near Saturn that will allow humans to search out habitable planets on the other side, to evacuate the Earth. RIGHT AFTER this explanation, they take Matthew McConaughey to the silo where they are showing a ship being assembled to take people through the wormhole. As MC enters the silo, on the right side there are letters set sideways stating "LEVEL 1". Except that in this scene the 2 L's are hidden by equipment and structure, and what's left to see is "EVE".

I laughed out loud in the theater, and people were looking at me like I was crazy. I'll bet anything one of the set designers was an EVE fan and snuck it in there as a nice little Easter Egg for his fellow players.

Check out the movie - it is very well done. And make sure to watch for this EVE reference!!

I just saw this movie in the theater and I actually noticed the same thing. I saw EVE plastered all over the background column and was like; the ****? Then I realized it said Level. But it was still pretty cool. Given the movie's theme it could very well have been an easter egg. But given the camera angle it honestly could just as easily have been a coincidence. Cool either way.

It would be an easter egg if the font from the sign was suspiciously similar to EVE's. Otherwise it's just an accident.

Christopher Nolan doesn't do accidents like that.

But in purple, I'm stunning!

Check this out:

Screenshot from Interstellar

The black bars are not me cropping the photo - that's the letterbox from the film itself. The EVE is on the left side and is exactly as in the movie.

Send isk to Christopher Nolan NAO!

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

But you know that "eve" is a English word too, right? As in "this is the eve to a voyage that will change the course of history".

This might be a little late to the party, but in the movie Insterstellar, in the credits, like way at the end, it did credit EVE: Online for something. It scrolled too fast for me to read, but it was there. I thought it was pretty damn cool. I tried to recall back to the movie where I had seen something unquestionably EVE, but couldn't. Now I am anxious to rent it and dig thru till I find what was used in the movie from EVE. :)

I didn't even recognize that massive "EVE" when I watched it...

Storyline wise, I do believe it's in no way inspired by EVE and doesn't really look so. Many other Sci-Fi's have focused onto the 'dying Earth' and then searching for new worlds. And Wormholes and stuff...

I did but I considered it as a mere co-incidence though it could be a homage to EVE but one cannot be sure without asking from the makers.

I tagged it as a coincidence as well, but apparently eve is real so eve is real
