Star Map

The Star Map is quite a useful piece of kit, some of it is very intuitive though some I'm still trying to figure out how to extract information from it. There are various sites that provide other maps with additional information. It is all kind of vast so I will start by asking about FW militias. If I set the map to all militias is shows coloured blobs on systems of various sizes which is great but what does that actually mean ?

Click on a system. You will see info that explains the colour intensity. This applies to all map info.

Failing that, it is the capture status.

EDIT: Note that there is an unmapped shortcut for the factional warfare menu, that you might want to set.

Can't see a lot of info from clicking on it. They all say contested as far as I have looked.

Can't see a FW in the shortcut list either.

I don't think it relates to the number of FW players present, you could be right about the capture status.

There should be a menu that shows you vulnerable systems that you can either defend or take.

I haven't been involved in FW properly yet but from what I gather, all war zones systems contain complexes that can be captured or defended. When attacking side has captured enough of the complexes then they can attack the infrastructure hub. Destruction of the IH changes sovereignty of the system thus the other side has to do the same thing back to them to re-take the system.

If you enter a war zone it says some statistics about % captured though the map shows militia present in a system as a coloured blob of a varying size. Hence it is a little confusing as to what that means.

As I mentioned above, either map the shortcut key for FW window, or access it in station from the station menu on the right.
