Even at cov ops level 3 its better then the t1 probing frigates because of its 10% skill bonus instead of frigates 5%.
Its also better then the t3 for a simple reason: you wouldnt scan strength rig a t3.

+ Virtue set and 6% hardwirings. They really make a difference - sifting out crap signatures with 8 au probes is the win.

Neone have a good prot fit? With cloak

I'm not sure what a 'prot fit' is but here is my earlier setup now with a Covert-Ops Cloak.

[Tengu, Exploration]
Tengu Propulsion - Intercalated Nanofibers
Tengu Defensive - Adaptive Shielding
Tengu Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration

Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher (Sisters Core Scanner Probe)
Salvager II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
4x Heavy Missile Launcher II (Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile)

Pithum C-Type Medium Shield Booster
Corelum C-Type 10MN MicroWarpdrive
Analyzer II
Codebreaker II
Pithum C-Type Magnetic Scattering Amplifier
Pithum C-Type Kinetic Deflection Amplifier

Damage Control II
2x Ballistic Control System II

2x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

If you fit an "Interdiction Nullifier" subsystem all you'd lose is a low slot, so that's either two BCUs or a DCU and a BCU.

He meant proteus.

Believe it or not, there are ships outside of the tengu.

my loki is scanning rigged: having a scanning ship for wormhole pvp that cloaks, is immune to disruption fields, can fit 2 warp stabs a nano and a drake worthy passive shield tank is significantly better than a cov ops frigate and worth putting 2 rigs on that cost what a few million isk?

if you do WH pvp, you spend more time flying your scanning ship than your combat alt

now for Hisec for the OP, the only reason to go T3 is for the buffer tank to prevent being ganked when carrying the phat lewts

Ishtars can be great exploration ships without the high price tag.

Drones with armor give good dps/def
Use mids and highs for all the probe/salvage/hacking goodies.

Nice/cheap swiss army knife.

I'm not sure I follow your logic on this one, because I didn't know that a "Prot fit" was in fact a Proteus I therefore think that there is only one ship in Eve?

Care to explain your superior intellect on this one? I'm obviously not on the same intellectual level as yourself.

But this is the Eve Forums where when you try to help someone with a request there will always be someone else butting in with smart-ass comments that are of no help what so ever.

What they made Tech 3 cruisers for other races. Lier! Next you will tell me they also have other Tier 3 Battler cruisers out side Minmatar and Amarr. It's just blaphem! Bear

Is it a rock point a lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship point a lazer at it and profit. I dont see any problems here.

Quoted for trueth. This babys are even worth the time most people put into two accounts one for scaning and the othe one a Ishtar.

Swiss army knife is a good name for it too.

Ok, so even though I've played for years I've never really dipped into scanning.

I run lvl 4 missions, I have orca and hulk alts and I want to start scanning down sites, Ideally grav sites but any just for fun.

I want to have a dedicated scanner ship as I will be doing within a coupel of jumps from my "home" system and flying back to switch ship.

What ship and skills would you guys recommend for easiest/fasting scanning abilities?

Many thanks guys.

Any cov ops. If the ship is dedicated to scanning you want the biggest bonus to that you can get. After that you want something that will align/warp fast so you can run back to get your real ship. Only the cov ops frigs and T3s match the first criteria, and only scanning with that ship makes the T3s serious overkill.

I`ve been happy with my legions for high sec exploration.

Lazor legion for Sansha and Blood areas.

[Legion, Legion Exploration]
Corpum A-Type Energized Reflective Membrane
Corpum A-Type Energized Thermic Membrane
Corpum C-Type Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Corpum C-Type Medium Armor Repairer
True Sansha Heat Sink
True Sansha Heat Sink
Tracking Enhancer II

Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Federation Navy Stasis Webifier
Codebreaker I

Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Core Scanner Probe I
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II

Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector
Legion Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Legion Offensive - Liquid Crystal Magnifiers
Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix

Tank is bit overkill but made out of bits found in sites, same with heat sinks. Never had problems in any high sec sites.

[Legion, Legion Ham Exploration]
Core C-Type Armor Kinetic Hardener
Core C-Type Armor Explosive Hardener
Corpum C-Type Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Corpum C-Type Medium Armor Repairer
Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System

Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner
Federation Navy Stasis Webifier
Codebreaker I

Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Terror Javelin Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Terror Javelin Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Terror Javelin Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Terror Javelin Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Terror Javelin Assault Missile
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Core Scanner Probe I

Medium Bay Loading Accelerator I
Medium Warhead Flare Catalyst I
Medium Hydraulic Bay Thrusters I

Legion Defensive - Augmented Plating
Legion Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Legion Offensive - Assault Optimization
Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix

For angel/guritsa/serpentis sites. One again no problems with tank, kills everything pretty fast.

+50% scan from sub +10% from launcher and sister probes +40% from skill and +5% from charisma virtue. Enough for any high sec site.

Just skipping on mag sites, but those are worthless in high-sec.

Might as well add my Loki I use (mostly in High-sec, but some trips in to Low). She isn't perfect, but she does very well.

Loki
-Adaptive Shielding
-Emergent Locus Analyzer
-Capacitor Regeneration Matrix
-Covert Reconfiguration
-Fuel Catalyst

Rigs:
2x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
1x Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I

Highs:
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher
Salvager I
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
3x 425mm Autocannon II

Mids:
10mn Afterburner II
Analyzer I
Codebreaker I
2x Invulnerability Field II
Medium Shield Booster II

Lows:
2x Gyrostabilizer II
2x Tracking Enhancer II

I have all the hacking tools on-board, and she is combat cap stable with the AB, invuls, and booster running. I have been meaning to see what it would be like to put in the subsystem so that I can avoid bubbles, but not sure how the tank would handle the nastier stuff way out there. I have decent skills but I'm not able brag having all fives or really expensive implants.

You people spend billions on t3's for highsec exploring that can be done in an arbitrator.

Just thought you should know. =/

I did high sec plexes in Navy Omen too.

There is one thing,no need to switch ships after scanning and running sites way faster.

Blood 4/10 was good 40-50m in Omen and in Legion I can blitz it in 10m.

Oh yes there are cheaper ships to do exploration, there are cheaper ships to do PVE in, there are cheaper ships to do PVP in, there are cheaper ships to run around in null sec in, there are cheaper ships to do X in but with a T3 cruiser you can do it all with the one ship. Big smile May not as well but good enough.

BTW my Tengu isn't even a Billions worth.

For some people it's all about efficiency: the faster you can find sites and run them, the more sites you can do in the same amount of time, and thus better chance of having loot in your hangar at the end of the day instead of Metal Scraps and frigate sized remote rep modules that aren't worth the broker fees in making a contract Big smile

right.. I don't have 400 mil to shell out on a Tengu... Yet.

So could someone please suggest an amarr or caldari ship that costs less than 200mil that can act as a High sec(primarily) and preferably low sec exploration AIO
