Can't really argue against this. It would be nice, yes. The whole "Keep at range" argument is missing the point I think since it doesn't prevent a double click turning into a movement order after the fact.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

and you cant "Keep at range" 2 objects to lock you down in the XY plane all you can do is lock yourelf down in an orbit around an object...

Having all the right information, and following orders to the T, and still screwing up because the computer decided that your clicking was just a hair too far away from the button is silliness.

Well, most buttons in the U.I. only have to be clicked once, while free movement in space requires a double-click, unless you single-click on an object and select approach, orbit, or keep at range. Single-clicking an object in space simply selects that object and displays your options for interacting with it, but does not order movement unless you select one of the relevant options. I really don't see how so many people are accidentally double-clicking on empty space. There aren't a whole lot of actions that require a double-click, so you should notice if you double-click something. If you do, just check to make sure you didn't accidentally make yourself move if you don't want to move.

I find this topic to be kind of ironic, really. You would think that out of all the problems that Eve players have, being able to successfully sit still wouldn't be one of them. Except for Titan pilots, anyway. From what I understand, it's kind of a pain in the ass when your Titan gets bumped, but that's an ENTIRELY different problem. How the actual *falcon* a ship the size of a 747 can move a ship the size of *falcon* Florida by *falcon* crashing into it head on (without either ship taking damage) is beyond me. I don't think that should be a "you guys can anchor your ships, now" kind of fix, and more of a "this is what happens when you drive your Honda Civic full *falcon* speed at a *falcon* semi-truck with a full load" kind of fix.

To the first part, mouse sensitivity, lag spikes, muscle spasms, too many beers, and an unfamiliar computer set-up could all be reasons why you might move your ship inadvertently. All right, the drunk one probably isn't the best reason to make changes to an MMO, but it's included because it's true Lol

Seriously though, I don't think anyone here is looking for an anti-bumping mechanic. Ram that Honda with a 7-ton and it's going to move even with the parking brake on. I'll agree that the opposite shouldn't happen, and that the poor Honda should be scrap while the 7-ton sits there impassively. In this thread however, we're not asking for a change in game physics, but for a lock-down on pilot created movement should the pilot decide to drop anchor.

Now that you mention it, I think that drinking beer actually would be the best reason. Lol. Not that the others aren't valid as well. Although, mouse sensitivity and computer set-up are both things that can be fixed by the player, but one can understand that changing mouse settings and things like that is not as easy to accomplish for some as it is for others. :P

I watched a 7-ton chew up the trunk of a Tiburon one time. Operator wasn't paying attention, but the guy who owned the Tib left it sitting too close to the gate when there were paint lines that clearly marked the area that needed to be kept clear at all times. It was pretty funny. Both got ninja punched. Lol!

If you can't truck it, F*CK IT!
