Disagree.

Logging in doesn't make you a player.

I don't know if anyone has suggested this but could we have a skill to reduce autopilot warp distance. Obviously we would need a penalty to using this feature to make a target still gankable making this still a risky proposition . My thought is that for every level you train you warp 2km closer to the target.

This is what it might look like
(Skill level) (distance)
1. 13 km away from gate - 10.5km to travel till jump
2. 11 km away from gate - 8.5km to travel till jump
3. 9 km away from gate - 6.5km to travel till jump
4. 7 km away from gate - 4.5km to travel till jump
5. 5 km away from gate - 2.5km to travel till jump

Risk Vs. Reward

I don't know what we can make the penalty Mabey make align time longer or maximum velocity slower. But obviously the penalty should only be active when auto pilot is on

The Gankers will absolutely hate this Idea, so expect lots of "NO" etc.

One day CCP might look whilst they are removing Vestigial mechanics that just add boredom (unless you are being shot at and dying, That's not boring) and think, " we have not done anything with this old Idea in a long time" and decide that Ganking does not add to player retention, and is fun for the few and a PIA for many. And autopilot direct to gate. Who knows?

In the current atmosphere of development, there are no sacred cows, no protected game styles and no patience with groups of players who say "play our way, with our rules or GTFO"

The Gankers will hate that idea much much more, But they will have to adapt, Just as they always recommend.Cool

Most gankers don't frequently ask for things to make their job easier. They're law breakers. It's supposed to be difficult, and the rewards are supposed to be worth it. That's the POINT of ganking. Especially suicide ganking. When gankers ask for something, they usually include something that, at the very LEAST, makes an attempt to maintain an acceptable balance in their proposal. Players like you, Dryson, and the OP, on the other hand, never seem to even be all that interested in balance. It's always some anger-fueled (although sometimes still very calm) sob story about how a bad man who smelled funny touched your ship's thruster nozzles in an inappropriate way, and he should be murdered, executed, murdered again, locked away for life, beaten, tortured, executed again, hung, flogged, and finally banned from Eve. Because....that's what you guys think "balance" means???

Everything has a price, plain and effing simple. Autopilot is an EXTREMELY convenient feature. It literally allows you to set a route through EVERY system in New Eden and fly around while you...idk...go grocery shopping or what ever, without having to manage your flight path. The price for that convenience is that you land 15km away from each gate so that you aren't invulnerable to attack while you watch Netflix or "entertain" your significant other. Cool

If you want to be able to warp to 0 while AP is active, you could ask CCP for the option to pay an ISK fee that is deducted from your wallet every time you AP jump through a gate, with gates existing in low charging a higher price than gates existing in high, and gates existing in null charging a higher price than gates existing in low. But I don't think that idea will go over very well, because there are plenty of people who currently use AP who don't mind slow-boating for 15km, and I highly doubt they will want to trade AP landing distance for a per-gate ISK fee.

Edit: Not to mention that it probably wouldn't come off very well to a new player when Aura tells them that their high-tech space ship has a handy, dandy Auto-Pilot function....but you have to pay to use it even though you OWN the damn ship.

+1

Travel is boring, especially in highsec, and autopilot is a great way to alleviate the boredom. Forcing people to manually travel makes the game less fun. I fully support buffs to autopilot.

What these people with silly ideas, like this one, really want is for npc's to teleport their stuff around high sec risk free so that it can't be blown up. Could be they're after a universal market where everything listed can be bought and delivered anywhere in eve instantly. Lets face it if any of these silly ideas were posted all that it means is people would move higher value stuff around in their freighter suffer bigger losses and the gankers get richer. All those losses would then prompt people to ask for the two silly ideas i posted at the start of this post so why waste time and dev time asking for stuff that's just going to make you lose more stuff and just ask for what you really want.
