Concorded when shooting suspects

Hi. I'm new to PvP and have a basic question. I'm suicide ganking in hi sec and have noticed every time I go after someone flagged as suspect, I get the same exact Concord response that I would get when shooting non-suspects. As soon as I point them, I the Concord message and they're on they're on their way.

What am I missing here? I thought suspect meant people could shoot you???

Confused. Thanks for your answer.

Did you pull concord and are you still GCC?

Are you sure they're suspects?

Check your overview settings to see if you have suspects and another state with the same settings.

You are correct, you should be able to shoot suspects without a CONCORD response. Technically that isn't suicide ganking any longer, but still, you should be able to engage them freely.

I can't say for sure, but the most probable explanation is that they are not really suspect. As was said, the first thing to check is your overview in case it has been set to show something else as yellow.

You can be sure that they are really suspect if there is a flashy yellow skull next to their name in local. You could also switch your safety back to yellow from red when trying to engage them to make sure you don't get CONCORDed by mistake again, but you probably should get to the bottom of why you are not properly identifying suspect-flagged players.

Switch your safety from red to yellow. If they really are suspects, you should still be able to aggress them, but if they aren't the safety system will prevent you from engaging.

Question: Are you sufficiently low sec status for the system you're in to provoke a reaction from the faction police?
If so, then those are likely killing you instead of concord.

Also be sure you're shooting suspects, not people with INACTIVE killrights or negative sec status people (-4.9 to -0.0)

Lol.. had this happen to me once while running a killright scam. Some guy lost a VNI not knowing how to activate the KR.

Happens often from what I can tell.

Or you could just suck at the game.... Are you sure you have a sufficient enough sec status to even be shooting anything in highsec?

Cause at -5 concord will still come after you even if you point a suspect.

Ugh

Faction Police is not Concord. The guy is already confused why are you telling him things that are not true?

This is what I was thinking, that or he just had really bad luck and the timer ran out right before he engaged. Safety on yellow will solve that.

The previous suggestions mentioned should help you identify the reasoning. If none of those reasons are to blame, petition it. CCP will either tell you why concorde killed you, or reimburse your loss.
