Just imagine, new players join the game and can be given a reasonable safe amount of time to learn the game before they become free game for all. Now this idea would not work of course if the new player started attacking other players, as the restriction then would be instantly removed.

Seems fair right? Was wondering what your thoughts on a change like this might be.

They wouldn't learn anything and they'd know nothing about eve, they might even leave due to lack of content.

A recovering btter vet,  with a fresh toon and a determination to like everything that CCP does to Eve...

Don't take me too seriously though, I like to tease a bit on the forums, but that's only because I love you...

How would they learn anything at all if they don't even know what just happened to them?

EDIT: Also has nothing to do with the changes to Awoxing coming up in a future patch

Then people would roll new alts to get unkillable scouts, or move officer mods/plex/BPO's in their invincible rookie ships.

Lot's of new players like to go lowsec and explore things and expose themselves to PvP. And many of the "new players" are actually alts of experienced players and should absolutely not get some kind of free protection period.

This.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Why would you want to deprive a newbie from all the fun?

Remove standings and insurance.

Yeah, this wouldn't be exploited with "risk free" alts to hell and back.

All current EVE players would keep it fair and don't use that option.

New players need to be introduced to the harsh realities of Eve earlier, not protected from them indefinitely.

I actually think the opposite.

When I started playing DayZ I got shot instantly by the first few people I met. It's that type of game and I knew instantly what the deal was. It also made meeting players and forming friendships mean something more.

If anything new players should be taugh that people kill each other in EVE but also that dying is not a problem and to learn how to make it less of a problem.

The CFC decides to undock 6 fleets full of rookie ship fleet 100 plex in cargo and strut around Jita undock with ship fittings in local, screenshots of their cargohold with 100 PLEXes with a caption "Can't touch this!" and other silly stuff.

Other things include multiboxing 1000 ventures and taking away all of your ice before you even lock it and you can't even kill them in low/null/WH space.

TL;DR OP's suggestion is 100% pure bona fide retardation of the highest caliber that doesn't take into account what the creativity of EVE players.

Spawn all newbies in a new region of space where firing on other players is completely disabled and guide them towards to exit as part of the tutorial. Then once they leave the region, explain very clearly that they are now free to be shot upon etc.

Easy peasy.

I so much wish this was the direction.

The approach of protecting new players and providing a risk free environment just teaches them that space is safe. It would be so much better for them to learn right from the start that space is dangerous.

Hmm, well maybe just for high sec, the moment they enter losec or null it's anything goes as usual. Let's keep high security safe for the newer players!
