Arch Linux and Eve

I had a thought today.

I am a slightly more experienced, but still basically a linux noob.

However, I run Arch Linux, because I love the concept of "no fluff you don't need".

One of the really great features of Arch is its AUR, the Arch User Repository. Basically, users can submit PKGBUILD scripts to install software that isn't in the official repositories. Many users have done this for some of my favorite pieces of software, like MakeMKV, dropbox, and unigine heaven.

Is there any way someone who know's what they are doing can make a PKGBUILD for Eve?

I would, but I don't have the slightest idea what I am doing..

1) Learn to make one yourself -> https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD
2) Make it yourself
3) Ask for help on the arch forums in case you have problems

Personally I don't see why it would be needed though. All you need is wine, winetricks and maybe lib32 in case you run a 64 bit OS. Then you need to use winetricks to install the necessary runtime libraries. I assume most people that run EVE on arch think the same as me and that's why there is no PKGBUILD.

OSS is not about asking other people to do something you want for free, but about you doing something you want by yourself and sharing it with the community. The community is usually there to help you when you have problems (at least if you show them you try). In the process you learn something about how to use a computer aside the usual web, office, ....

Try it and enjoy the process of learning ;-)

Honestly I don't know how you could build a linux installer for a win game. Guess there's the little problem of API in between, and that's why everybody uses wine (api emulator). Moreover, EVE is not opensource so...... you need wine.
