Problem with magnifier is you I'll your hull hit points. Inert stabs make you easier to be locked, but proper tank fit that counters insta lock and alpha popping will protect your butt better....unless you have really long align time or the locker is really good regardless of your align time.

They do from static.

The limit from simple AB/MWD aligning is the cycle time of the module - MWDs all have a fixed cycle of 10 seconds; ABs have a base cycle time of 10 seconds which is reduced by your Afterburner (IIRC) skill and can be reduced to 7.5 seconds.

The AB will therefore shut off (at the end of one cycle) sooner and reduce your maximum speed to a point that your current is approximately 75% of it, allowing you to warp.

Note that this is a different thing than the MWD/Cloak trick which (I believe) requires the MWD for parity of effects (MWD speed bonus & Cloak speed penalty).
