Hello forumers

A friend and I are intending to do some high-sec war dec stuff in the future and are considering which fleet booster we should train to use, if any. There's going to be 2 ships combat-fitted, with 1 neutral alt potentially providing off-grid boosts.
We're thinking of flying armor tanked high-DPS stuff, so probably blaster-fit Gallente cruisers.

Right now we're thinking a T3 would be more suitable than a command ship, as it can combat probe down potential targets if they're flying about and not docked up. We're not sure whether a Legion to boost EHP or a Loki for catching and pinning stuff would be more suitable for what we have in mind.

Neither of us have been active players for quite some time, and from what I've read boosts / command ships were changed a bit last year. We're open to using a Command Ship instead of a T3 if it would be significantly better.

Cheers all,

Command ships boost slightly better, depending on skills. If you want it to double as your covops, a neuting legion would be a good choice, but you'd have to get off-grid before decloaking and activating links or they'll know who your scouting alt is.

Stick your booster in a noob corp, sit him in an Astarte with full armour and skirmish links (coz blasters) and plug in a fed navy mindlink. Have another alt in corp to do your probing/tackling in a dedicated ship. Don't forget to take your synth boosters with and plug in your slaves.

Two mains, two alts, you'll train up quicker and it'll cost less isk to get them into a ship plus you can sit them in a T1 BC in the meantime.

BTW for ships use RR Domis, you'll win Eve but then you'll quit because it'll be hugely dull trying to get fights with people that don't want to.

Or you could just join a low/null sec corp and pvp every day without any of the above hassle.

i use a pair of legions.

one dps/tanky monstrosity and
one Cloaky/Scanny/Bossting one in an npc corp so the wt's dont get spooked(to clarify , this one should never see combat in this role).
that way i have the utility of a scout ontop of the boost when prey has been foundBlink

RIP OP. For a high-sec wardec it depends on the targets, if it's a bunch of stalking targets that are trying to PvE then a Legion might be best because you can combine neut superiority with drone DPS. If they're doing mostly mining and hauling then perhaps a Proteus for the ability to shoehorn a solid amount of blaster DPS on while using a covops cloak. As for links I guess it depends whether you're staying in one system or not. If yes then might as well go CS for the bonuses, if not then maybe a cloaky Proteus with the subsystem that lets it warp faster so you can use it for scouting and don't lose much time getting it into position ahead of the fleet.

If you want to bring the boosting ship into Combat you basically gotta run with the Eos. Massive Heavy Drone DPS and active armor tank, accompanied by free2use highslots allow for the most combat orientaded boosting that you can find.

For probing i'd suggest using an alt in a cheap-ass t1 frig, as this one is fast to train into and will not use excessive amounts of CPU on your combat ships.

Or you could run a Tech 3 alt with links & probes, as mentioned by Ralph King-Griffin.

Keep in mind that training an alt into a solid boosting Role eats up a fckton of skillpoints, as you wil need several leadership skills to V.

I'd recommend option #1

I'd strongly suggest keeping your booster out of your wardeccing corp. Gallente command ships are the way to go as they can give links for both armor and speed, and will be stronger than a t3's boosts.

If you really can't have a 4th character for probing and stuff, then yes, a T3 will give you more versatility, though an Eos may also be an option as mentioned before, depending on what you're hunting.
