A colorful scanner! (Survey Scan Changes)

I would rather like to see a scanner that can colorize your list for you. Green for in unboosted range, yellow for in boosted range, red for out of all range.

Since scanners are always more powerful than your mining lasers/strip miners, this would come in handy when you are sorting by quantity.

Another feature would be to allow you to hide asteroids out of range (red stuff). Or put those at the end of the list in the same sorting order that you have.

This is just a small sort of idea/requested feature. It would help simplify some things for miners.

....or you could, you know, turn that tactical overlay on and see your laser range there..

Or you could like, add a new feature to the survey scanner that makes it just a little bit nicer. Tactical overview doesn't show you the amounts of ore inside each asteroid. Sure it's useful for get most stuff in range, but you just can't get -everything- in range.

I support green and red, but expecting it to carry your boosts and non-boosted range is more than I would like to see in such a light mod fitting wise.

Personally I see no real use for this but I see no harm in it either so CCP please someday add this.

While you wait out what is likely to be a very long time for this to happen I do hav some thoughts.
Survey scanner results show you how much of what there is around you and a properly set up overview can quickly and easily show you distances. Not sure since it has been years since I used one but I remember that the survey scanner results could be sorted by type or distance.

Auto-sorts by type now, and you can sort by distance or amount, which means you can set it up quickly approximate these features as the game exists.

And of course nothing is stopping you from using a survey scan range boosted ship

So what you are really asking for is an overview column for 'amount last scan' and the tactical overview to also show that data on hover/highlight/lock.

Sure, why not. lets all pick apart the "colorize survey scanner" idea and say "Screw changes to new things that could effect no one whatsoever in any bad way at all. Lets nit pick at his idea and say you can do it the pain in the ass way of this this that and this."

It's simple. I want the survey scanner to include some more advanced settings. Allowing me to color stuff green that is in range, and sort based on what is in range, and the amount in each asteroid at the same time. Stuff that is out of range, will appear at the end of the list of that particular asteroid type or be hidden, and still be sorted by amount per asteroid.

Any idea you post is going to be "nit picked" it is the nature of these forums just be aware of that anytime you post.

The rest of us are simply pointing out that with the exception of the coloring every thing you want is already available. It may not be ideal, or exactly what you want but it is workable for now.

The tectical overlay already exists and is really very easy to use. As such it requires no dev time.
