This is a remix/rearrangement I did for "My Other Residency" I don't know how many fans of this particular track there are but I'm very excited to share this with the community and see what you guys think of it. I tried not to stray away too much from what made the original great because that would just be selfish ;)

Wow. On my third consecutive play now. Could use this to slow down kids, and at the same time, see some O mouths and open ears and eyes.

Edit: Adults too.

Edit: Could use a little more length. Smile

If you get a chance OP, share the story of the production with us. Very basic stuff, as in, how much of the track came from the original audio file, and how much is new arrangement/performance/recording? A jump start for the guys out there could be good. Smile

Thank you for the compliment that means a lot! I started this track because my dad's actually, really into Eve and has been asking me to do a remix or something of some Eve music. So, I went online and saw a lot of people really like "My Other Residency" so that's the one I went after.

As far as using any of the original audio file? I didn't use any of it due to the low quality version available to me (it's 10 years old) and plus I didn't think I should use any of the sounds from the original due to the fact that they're all heavily processed so I just listened to the song and used all the chord progression and changed the lead synth arrangement towards the middle to make it feel slightly more energetic. Everything you hear (sound-wise) was done by me from the ground up I just pretty much used the original chord progression and most of the mixing/arrangement while adding my own variations to it like reversed piano keys throughout, drums, percussion, additional synths and strings that I thought added more flair to it and some sound effects. Overall, it's pretty much the same song if you ever go back and listen to the original it's just a little slower (140bpm) with more layers to it and different processing without as much flanger, tubes or crushing like the original used.

Edit: The song is free to download for anyone that's curious you can take it anywhere with you as I give most, if not all, my music out for free. It's the download icon below the track.

Houm... 2 of the first 3 minutes could be removed and nothing would be lost, rather the theme would improve. The central part (when it eventually comes) is too strident, sounds like almost distorted.

Soundcloud's version of the theme is bad, too, and the ingame version is quite better. So making the poor beast stretch to over 6 minutes after a intro lasting 3 minutes just went over the top for me.

Not liking it, sorry. Bear

(Tip: change every 60 seconds. Add an instrument, a new texture, switch to a different set of chords, to keep the listener interested. There are no long themes, but boring themes. Here's 23 minutes of glorious following of the "minute law")

Interesting critique you have because it was something I was thinking about when I was working on it but, in my defense, the original version of that song drags... So, instead of doing major changes per 8 bars (which is the bar progression of the original) I did subtle changes up until the "climax" as does the original. Again, the idea wasn't to make it a completely different song from the original but kind of "pay tribute" to it without taking too much away from it. I do agree with you though and, if I do get enough people asking me to, I will definitely keep that in mind the next Eve track I work with. As far as the distortion it's actually a flanger on the lead synth, just like in the original haha again - not trying to take anything from it. Thank you for your words though, I take every critic seriously to better my music.

Thank you, and so far I've had a request for Miner's Stories and I will definitely look into Under the Asteroids for sure!
