As to the topic itself, if you were one for the idea of transporting PLEX and enjoy blowing it up but find that suddenly you have need for plex....can't have cake and pleasure your ego at the same time after looking at your kb Twisted

Where do you live where $15 is a couple hours of work?

There are three ways you lower plex prices:

1) Take your mom's/dad's/your CC, go to amazon, ccpgames, whatever, buy a bunch of plex, and put them on the market at a price lower then jita, and keep doing this. You will force the prices to drop as no one will buy the high ones if you keep pumping out 250m isk for a plex.

don't like that idea? Then

2) Buy all the plex on the market, and then resell it for a loss.

Don't like that idea?

3) Convince other players to either stop buying plex, or sell more plex.

Don't want to do that?

Then stop whining.

I can make the isk to plex a single account in 2 hours. That's it.. 2 hours. Maybe 3.

Get a tengu, go to a c3 wh, and kill amons. If you do it right you can kill an anom every 10 min. That nets you - nanoribbons about 45m per anom. 10/60 = 6 6*45 = 270m isk 270 * 3 = 810m isk. You are just short a little bit. If you get any nano riboons then you are golden.

3 hours of work, all done.

As someone who plex's his accounts I can say with almost absolute certainty that if the price of plex continues to rise it will force me out of playing the game.

That's roughly minimum wage in the UNited States right now, if you assume that when he said a couple he literally meant two.

That's right folks, a teenager working fast food can afford to sub their accounts instead of plexing them. What's your excuse?

Where do you live where $15 is a couple hours of work?
In the UK the minimum wage for those over 18 but under 21 is £5.13 p/h, approx $8. The minimum wage for those over 21 is £6.50, approx $10. About 6% of UK employees are minimum wage employees, mostly in the retail and leisure sectors.

$15, or the equivalent in £, for a couple of hours work on minimum wage is about right by the time the government has had their chunk.

It's much worse elsewhere.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

It's a little more complicated than that but that's the right idea. The supply of
plex on the market and stored for trade later vs the number of buyers determines the rise and fall of the price. These numbers are impacted by the number of people using plex to buy isk against the total number of folk playing the game at any given time.

I think it's time we march on Jita!

On another note the increase is likely due to less people playing, therefore less supply and greater demand. Notice how in the past we had lower prices but also greater numbers playing. I can clearly show you this with this chart here:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YQ9Q5UEjpeE/U8PFusdW75I/AAAAAAAAJnI/YdNKaquEUwQ/s1600/Retribution+to+Kronos.png

Notice how we have a steadily declining player base over time. This to me indicates a possible correlation to prices through supply and demand and that being affected by player numbers.

Too short a time window.

Here's a quote from an older post that covers the topic a bit better
Quote:
Looking at the average sell order for plex over the past 6 years and compare to overall PCU for those same times:

2008-6-26: N/A----------------------------------PCU: 23718---------------------Empyrean Age
2008-11-18: 309 Mil----------------------------PCU: 25151 (Δ =+1433)----Quantum Rise
2009-6-26: 400 Mil (Δ =+91 Mil)-----------PCU: 28363 (Δ =+3121)----Apocrypha
2010-6-26: 308 Mil (Δ = -92 Mil)-----------PCU: 32695 (Δ =+4332)----Tyrannis
2011-6-26: 393 Mil (Δ = +85 Mil)----------PCU: 31884 (Δ =-811)-------Incarna
2012-6-26: 498 Mil (Δ = +105 Mil)--------PCU: 28464 (Δ =-3420)-----Inferno
2013-6-26: 558 Mil (Δ = +60 Mil)----------PCU: 33124 (Δ =+4660)----Odyssey
2014-6-26: 750 Mil (Δ = +192 Mil)--------PCU: 28402 (Δ =-4722)-----Kronos

Price History Data was taken from Eve Markets, PCU data was taken from Eve-Offline. Eve-Markets does not have a full data set for 2008, so the earliest date was used. All other data was sampled for 6-26 (today's date).

I don't care about the arbitrary price of Plex. I do care that Plex is inflating while everything else is deflating, making Eve stuff and implicitly time spent in Eve less valuable in $$$ terms. Basicly this. Economic recession in action. ISK is devaluating and so people are storing their wealth in PLEX (gold standard) and assets in preference to currency.

It's funny because the higher PLEX price goes, the less PLEX is seeded into the market by players, accelerating the price climb.

You have that backwards. The higher the price of PLEX, the more likely it is to be seeded, because people are going to be getting more ISK for their money.

to the OP go watch the fan fest economics panel video on you tube , to the "why should CCP care" / player driven economy posters please do the same.

tl/dnw
while what the CSM dude said is true that is not the whole picture ,while it is true that CCP does not care what the actual PLEX price is. when that price spiked a few months back it got their attention not because they were worried about negative effects of said price on the game (plex transactions are neutral to the economy) but because the spike its self was symptomatic of massive in game inflation.
at that point CCP did EXACTLY what you all claim they are not going to do now, IE. the EVE central bank stepped in and seeded PLEX directly in to the market to suppress the price. according to CCPs head economist this was a temporary measure that they did not like doing and all the details are hush hush , but this what caused the price to level off for the last couple of months.
IMO CCPs intervention has run its course and the price is now being allowed to seek its own level.
