Interesting but that's a tractor beam not a laser drill beam though the results seem amazing considering that were talking about a beam of light.

Think we already invented a mining Laser. The Mars rover Curiosity is driving around on Mars with one, granted a tiny version of it.

Melting stuff with a laser is easy, getting it back from great distances isnt. Notice how in eve, there is a blue laser + 2 small yellow ones in a mining laser beam. I presume one component is the laser and the other is the tractor beams to bring back the material. if we have tractor beams, soon we might have someone putting them together with lasers
