Almost definitely yes. Even lowsec space is Empire controlled to an extent.

And if you recall the trailer, the Empires are stridently opposed to player controlled stargates. It would only really be possible in null space, and could very possibly need to be defended against NPC siege fleets.

Not the empires, but Amarr are definitely against freedom.

Well, the question is very simple. It's about access to the stargates, no further details are needed.

The reasons for your question are probably even simpler. IB4 "OMG CCP why aren't we allowed to access this new area of space IT'S NOT FAIR, the RMT cartels get everything via their CSM sockpuppets, abloobloobloo rabblerabble". If you're going to attempt this, please do it properly. #freedinsdale.

Personally I hope these player built stargates can be configured to AOE anyone daft enough to try use them if they aren't part of the group that owns it. Or can be confirgured to charge an (extortionate) toll for usage. If you don't like it, stop levelling up your empire raven and engaging in erotic roleplay with the NPC dwellers and build one yourself.

That said, it won't take long for a group to throw one up purely to extort gullible singleplayers, so I doubt new areas of space will be unattainable even for those outside of blocs.

Allowing players to build their own stargates is evidence CCP has collectively lost its ever-lovin' mind, and this is why:

a.) Stargates are transition points used to break up a very well-designed map which couldn't possibly
completely fit on your monitor.

b.) Players not only did not design this well-designed map, but are in all likelihood as unfamiliar with it as a whole as they are with their own neighborhoods where they reside (irl).

c.) You can bet your bottom ISK that some dummy will figure out a way to make Stargateland; the system where there are noooooo moons, nooooo suns, nooooo asteroids...JUST stargates...dozens and dozens of stargates.

Never give someone who doesn't really know they suck at design and execution the opportunity to design and execute if you're in the least bit interested in a semblance of orderliness and rationality.

tl;dr Never give kids the skinny crayons 'til they've proved they can use the fat ones.

I think you missed that those stargates will have an end in New Eden and the other end will be in some unknown undefined New Space.

Very true!
And we Caldari 'cook the books' do the accounting for the Amarr.

Poor, Poor Dinsdale...

What did he do to get Ballgagged? Did he threaten to invade CCP or something?

He pushed his luck with CCP Falcon one time too many.

Even simpler: Will player-built stargates be available only in 0.0 security space? Yes or no?

Do you honestly think CCP will let us high-sec scrubs create stargates? So they can, what, hook up to another carebear paradise and we can then include pandas in the game? Even if they did, you can't possibly believe they'd be immune to war-decs, do you?

CCP has no sense of humour.

Open questions deserve open answers. And I guarantee you will get one.

Go here or here and refresh every 30 seconds until you see the info or blog that is the answer you seek. You might want to stock up on Red Bull before you get started though.

Looking at the concept,
it seems that CCP is trying to reach out to those who want to conquer their own space.

It's a fix to issue of giving people their own space.

That way they can give people an alternative to nullsec ...
... and at the same time extend the cluster infinitely.

If so, then it should be possible to set them up in high sec. Otherwise the only people who can set them up are people who have already claimed space, and all these new gates will do is give them still more.

But I doubt CONCORD will flow through to the new systems. But maybe they could, if asked.

and for the vision, i have herd somewhere from 1 of the live streams that the player built stargates will lead to locations to new Space, like how WH space is separate from new edin, well these player gates will lead to a 3rd space separate from the other 2
