It's very easy to say carebear cry baby, the game is hard, and it’s the economy...

How about saying let’s make a meaningful game?

The point for me is that these low life morons lose nothing, they use cheap ships with disposable alts, they have no challenge and yet, can cost someone billions and more important to me cost me time to set up again in the game.

All I can do in return is make the killright public.

I can tell you 100 percent it is far safer to play the game generally now in null, something that I ironically found very boring.

So try hi-sec again, FW is great, log into an old alt do some mining and bang.

So you now have a game full of idiots killing soft targets in hi-sec and cosy null bears making money in null.

Somewhere there is a design flaw, yeah and lock that other thread the guy was "ranting" about this.

The flaw here is in your personality not in the game. You went afk IN SPACE with that kind of expensive implanted clone instead of docking, or using a mobile depot to fit a cloak and sit in a safe spot, or if you "live" there, dropping a small pos on a useless moon for safety.

And you did this in EVE ONLINE? WTF were you thinking (rhetorical question, we know you weren't thinking). What you did was like smearing steaks all over your body then going to sleep in a Lion's Den at the zoo then being surprised that the Lion's turn you into a midnight snack (and later, poo)

And lol at the null sec is safer. That old lie just won't die it seems.

Would you go AFK while playing any other PvP game?

I do not afk in this game, but that's not really the issue. I would have saved my pod yes, but the game is a total joke now.

Look I'm not mining again ever so I will just count it is a blessing, but plenty of people enjoy mining and it's just sad that there is no consequence to ganking very soft targets.

Right, so mining in hi-sec is the lions den in the zoo?

I don't think you have a clue about this game.

Idk about anyone else, but if I went afk in a Crucible(PvP) match in Destiny, I would expect to come back to a corpse.

So which one of the above statements is true? Or are you just telling porkies all round?

The whole principle of Eve is that it's up to you to provide consequence, not CCP.

Whenever I read "enjoy mining" I have to wonder what exactly is enjoyable about it.

The only thought I can come up with, is "doing something else while mining",
which means that mining isn't enjoyable at all.

I'm not the one who lost 2 bil worth of implants, now am I? I've played for 7+ years (carebearin my ass off) and have not been successfully ganked.

Because in life, as in Eve, some people are just dicks. Reasons quickly become meaningless.

I am confused, would you propose increased penalties on the ganking of soft targets in highsec or do you want more severe consequences for all ganking?

But really there are already significant consequences for the ganker. Eve is a PvP game. Why do you expect CCP to provide you with complete protection when there are already many tools available to you to avoid destruction at the hands of your opponents? These include but are not limited to: tanking your ship, having friends to guard you, not being AFK so you can flee, or mining in space that you and your friends have made secure like null.

If you do not want to take responsibility for the safety of your digital space assets, why are you playing a competitive PvP game like this one? And to bring it back to the title of this thread, what is the appeal of pressing F1 to activate your mining lasers in total, absolute safety? If there is anything at all satisfying about mining, I would think it would be that you managed to gather those rocks in the face of at least the theoretical risk of someone trying to stop you.

Some people prefer the tears of the weak over the tears of the strong.

I made a mining alt not too long ago to try it out as I wanted to shift to more of a quiet life in EVE. I got ganked once while on a different screen, went and grabbed a max tanked procurer (I always keep a few around) and scooped his and my loot before he could get to it.

I then watchlisted the ganker and set him -10. A couple of days later sure enough he tried to gank me again. He was a bit smarter this time and brought a MTU. Unfortunately for him I was paying attention and he died before me. He hasn't bugged me since.

In my experience gankers are either looking to pad their killboard, interdict specific entities, make a profit, or harvest tears. If you don't let them constantly blow up your ships they will find someone else to kill. There are plenty of targets in highsec after all.

What consequences are there for a month old alt doing this ganking?

Yes i can mine safely in null - great game design right there.

I'm now taking more risk in hi-sec, and yes i know what to do to protect myself but seriously? why should i have to for much less rewards?

Garbage game design, all the effort from me to mine safely for peanuts but no effort to kill me.

If this is going on, then how about insurance for pods? and equal rewards for hi-sec miners?

where will the madness end!

More than you might imagine. For instance, you cannot biomass a neg sec status alt without risking a permaban. So, once you make one, you're stuck with it.

You may have heard this somewhere before, but EVE is a PvP game. Yes, you should always be defending yourself.

And as for Null vs High, that's easy. Nullsec is only safer because of player actions, and highsec is only dangerous in any way because of player actions.

There is no disputing which one has more inherent safety.

Quote:

That's what you get when you choose to be a prey animal. Nevermind that when you start talking about all the "effort" that mining entails, you've gone off track pretty badly. Mining is almost zero effort, that's why people do it despite it being a fairly inferior income source.

Quote:

Heck, insurance for ships needs to go away, and as for "rewards", you get a reward equivalent to your effort. And since your effort is just barely above zero, that's what your reward is and will always be.
