Ganking miners seems to be the equivalent of mining imo.

Warp to belt. target stationary object (asteroid, mining ship, etc) hit f1...

repeat for hours of boredom

Some people just thrive off of provoking an emotional response.

The problem with slavery is that only half of the manacles are visible. The Holder, supposed master, is equally bound by the gilded chains of privilege and wealth.

It seems its a lot more fun for us sociopaths, then for the common folk! What?

Honestly though, it never gets old, the interactions you get from killing a squishy miner who would otherwise ignore you and the rest of the players in game if you didn't step in are great.

I like to play my MMO's with other people, shooting red crosses or rocks in space gets old, much faster then kill those people that do it instead.

Actually I think it's more like mowing down pedestrians for the lols in grand theft auto , except they then sperg allover local and the forums about it afterwards in hilarious torrents of tears and accusations of psychological disorders.

The whole thing eludes me. I'm guessing you have to be really bad at games.

I prefer ganking freighters. Fleets tend to be more fun.

Got bumping, warping, scouting, and multi-system chases going down.

But you want reasons?

Main reason?

Small numbers needed, even at higher sec status. Especially considering how an anti-tanked barge is more than often what you are going to find in HS. "B-b-but........MY EFFICIENCY!!!" Single most used reason why tank is eschewed in favor of yield mods...or worse...mods that literally make zero sense. Like warp stabs or inertia stabs.

Other reasons?

Teaching the realities of a world in which non-consensual PvP exists...to people who shell up and play EVE as a single player game.

Market manipulation + target hunting. Sell your ORE Strips, and then watch list the person that buys them. Blink

Cutting out your own mining competition.

And of course, tears.

However, if tears are really what people are after, a single miner gank is facile.

Why gank one or two miners.....

....when you can just join the corp, build trust, and safari the whole mining op?

Shocked

Your effort to tears ratio goes through the roof during such events.

Its not ganking its a vaccine against risk aversion.

It depends on how you do it... It can be that boring if you pick easy targets but sometimes not.

Try solo ganking macks in a 0.7 system. Do you ship scan your targets? Oh wait you will tip off the target if he's not afk... You can just go in blind but it's so close anything can make you fail. He has a DC fitted... You warped in out of optimal. You took too long to target and shoot.

Yes it's not as exciting as lowsec roaming but not as boring as ice mining.

Less people mining = less ressources on the market
Less ressources = higher price
higher price = you make more cash as a good miner

There you go, simple economics. Seriously, if you are getting killed while mining, its because your fit sucks. Get tankier.
