What changed, well first things first they had spend x amount of time on it

So really ou don't actually hate the concept of it but the execution of it by CCP.

You didn't have to drag in a dead horse, your face already looks close enough to one.

I will commence the beatings of your horse face P

Hate is such a strong word - I'm simply not interested in Incarna in the slightest and think it's a waste of development ressources.

Having that said, I wouldn't mind incarna if it hadn't brought us *18 months* (imho it was way longer) of Eve neglect. If CCP manages to develop incarna features without neglecting eve- ok - *shrugs*.

In an ideal world, it would be a kind of plugin those that are interested can download (maybe even have them pay some Aurum for it, for all I care...).

You should probably research it a bit more. Not only was there a concept there was a concise vision described in detail to hundreds of people at fanfest and recorded and put on youtube for every fan.

I don't hate the concept of Incarna whatsoever. I hate that I have been looking forward to it since 2008 and its not even 10% implemented right now. That is legendary fail.

I downloaded a zip file of a girl from a .. adult website.

It had 60 pics in it. The first 40 she had clothes on.

Incarna stage: We are on pic 5 and we can't skip to the end.

I don't hate the idea of incarna, I just don't ever want to use it. I play this game because of the spaceships.

Leaves only the fresh scent of pine.

I don't hate the idea of Incarna, I just hate all of you.

Here's me, back in February:

"If I thought CCP’s ‘strategy’ (which seems to consist of hiring a bunch of incompetent programmers and letting them do whatever they think is ‘awesome’) was going to maximize their profits, I’d still be a tad peeved, but I’d accept their choice as rational. But CCP is driving EVE off a cliff, taking their own bottom line with it, and I’ve got 2+ years of car payments invested in this thing."

Of course, I was right back then, and in the summer of rage that followed. Jobs were lost. Project AkJon was launched. Spaceships became a focus again.

That's all well and good. Now CCP needs to recommit themselves to the sandbox concept and to the EVE economy. That's what creates the kind of immersion that gets people logging in dozens of hours a week or answering a CTA at 4AM on a worknight. That's what makes a game truly great. If all I wanted was a PVP simulator, I'd play WoT all day.

Once they do that, then they can assign a few scrubs to Space Barbies development as an afterthought. It's about priorities.

Thing is, the concept for Incarna wasn't the concept just for Incarna, it was Eve's general concept. A complete Sci-fi universe, and one I was and still am behind.

The execution was terrible though. 1 CQ, Forced CQ, no actual flying content, the terrible new non-icons for turrets, poor performance....etc..

However, the biggest thing about the Incarna expansion for me was the lies from CCP.

A number of high up devs (one might have been Soundwave) promised that CQ would not only be completely optional, but wouldn't be implemented if it reduced functionality or TimeToKill.

Going from ~5 seconds to load up the hanger to nearly 20 to load up CQ was a massive faux pas, and completely against the aforementioned promise. Especially in light of some people wanting to dock just to repair/dump loot etc... It also removed lots of handy functions, notably the right click menu on the ship, or the drag and drop abilities.

Then we have the NEX store.
Recorded statements from last June saying CCP had no plans for RMT, previous April Fools jokes with the CEO mocking RMT and Free-to-play, then suddently, "hi guys, new currency and RMT!", when it was pretty obvious it was not only incompatible with Eve's subscription model, completely against the sandbox and player run economy which is one of the big points that makes Eve a success, but also against the wishes of the vast majority of the playerbase (and one of the reasons they played EVE was that it didn't have RMT).

Then to top it off not only were the items priced out of the market, a decision was made to go against one of Eve's core principles: Everything you own can be destroyed and space is brutal.
That, outside of RMT being in game in the first place, is the biggest sin of the entire NEX concept.

And then we had all the bullshit afterwards. Like the $1000 pair of jeans rubbish. Gold Scorps and the rest of it.

errr yeah CCP aimed too high from eve day one so yeah, and thats a point will they actually properly develop it from now on... tbh I think people should stop complaining about incarna and now ask for it to be fully developed, but even with the expansion they have been doing atm they improved performances and added in racial specific quarters, but i cant see it being fully developed by this summer coming maybe next winter or next summer.

When it was announced, I went "oh boy, next will be the naked dancing blue elves on tables - like WoW". Not something I'm into.

I consoled myself that it would be optional and I wouldn't have to go into those stations and see all the male avatars running around in wedding dresses nor the female avatars doing table dances, etc...

Then they removed the ship spinning and forced me into a single room and said "we'll give you the rest soon..." With a big fat RMT store stuck in there for me to buy cut-out barbie clothing for my char - jammed in my face.

If I wanted barbie dolls in space, I'd have signed up for that in an avatar driven game but I didn't. I don't want that crap stuck in my face, etc.

I don't "hate" it any more than I hate mining or other such activities I'm not really into in this game. If I don't want to watch ships shooting rocks with lasers, I don't have to and if I don't want barbie and ken dressup, I really don't think I should be stuck with that cra... err, "part of the game" either.

It is part of the game and there are those that want to get involved in it. Good for them and I hope CCP gives them a nice bunch of outfits to dress their dollies up with.

Just don't make me have to participate in it and I'll be glad to mutter about them "fixing" that side instead of what I want, just like other parts of the game and it looks like they might be listening. I get my ship spinning back, without having to go into that captains quarters so I'm a happy camper.

Again, for my part: I"m not hateful of what they want to put in. I just want that to remain optional - leaving me with my spaceship game and let others do whatever the hell they want dancing and prancing around in stations.

That's fair enough.

Splitting Eve between FiS and WiS does a disservice to the game. I can get behind CCP's vision of Eve as a sci-fi simulator, but the execution was just terrible. As much as FiS and WiS should be part of one Eve, WiS should not overshadow the development of FiS when there is still so much that can be improved. Tacking on the additonal CQ's into crucible which is laden with quality FiS improvements is the right way to do it until the massive walking in stations addition. And the WiS addition should only be its own expansion if everything is ready. The death of Eve would come if CCP pulls another incarna and adds WiS as its own expansion with no player owned establishments, minigames, and generally everything they've showcased already plus some extras they haven't.

  • EvE will die when it's no longer interesting to play. That time hasn't come, for me.
  • FiS will never be 'done.' EvE without bugs is like lucky charms without marshmallows.
  • WiS and owning a pleasure hub seems cool to me. I don't see the point of CQ at all.

That is all.

There are some people a bit too blinded by thier hatred they think that CCP is going to delete incarna.

Ill agree though execution was very poor. and possibly a year to long to develop. At least its to the point now they can back burner it an whatever gets done cooking back there can be deployed peices at a time now.

I like the idea of having an avatar able to do things

... i also like the idea of being able to play eve in a super lite mode so I can keep it on while sitting in station waiting for form-up or camping a gate while i'm playing memory intensive games

I'd like to have a truly excel in space version of the client with no rendered graphics other than maybe some 1980s xs and os placed in space.

But I"d also really like to play a fully rendered avatar orientated game linked to the eve economy and I think dust will fit that.

They seem to be commited to really hi graphics settings and if that works on a ps3 its probably way cheaper to get a ps3 than to install all the stuff to keep my video cards from burning out (liquid coolling , new power supplies etc even though my card can handle 1 avatar in a locked room now just fine)

I'm also still offended about being shown the door for months.. why they didn't change the pic as soon as they realized many people were taking it as a message that they didn't care is really beyond me.... it was a continued statement that they didn't care made again each day they kept it up.

I love the concept, I love the execution. I wish they'd put more time into it and make it what it truly could be.

I've tried EVE probably half a dozen times over the years, but only this time trying it have I actually stayed on for more than a couple months. I blame most of that on the fact that now for the first time I have a character that I can look at in the world and be proud of and say "she is mine! She is me!" The graphical effects are beautiful and frankly I don't know why people seemingly have such trouble with performance in the CQ. It loads almost instantly for me and I have a 2+ year old gfx card and a 3+ year old processor.

I'm incredibly saddened by the fact that CCP is slowing down the development of WiS and I hope they change this in the future. As much as I love that they're doubling down on the space aspects (after all, that's were virtually all gameplay that actually gets stuff done occurs) I long for the day when we'll be able to meet each other face-to-face.

like I said dude do incarna slowly very slowly and put down the gas on fixing eve and that 100,000 things they should really be doing with that time, but also as I said that incarna in it when it actually close to what CCP said it was going to be in the first place it will get more people in the game to get those 100,000 thing done rather than in 5 years or so 2 years or maybe even 1, because this kind of feature from when I have told them about it actually resonates with girls who are not currently interested in eve.

so eh, but yes making Incarna mandatory was ghay but after a lot of beating around the head not only has CCP made it optional they have made a patch that is heavy focused on the pew pew, so thats a bit late.
