Hostage situation in Caille as prosthetic gang attempts bank robbery

Dramatic news reaches Gutter Press today, about a hostage situation in downtown Caille, where a gang of rogue prosthetics has taken a number of hostages.

Caille City police report that earlier today, a number of persons with prosthetic arms walked into a bank and attempted an armed robbery, with several of the arms holding handguns to their wearer's heads, and threatening to shoot unless the cashiers handed over a substantial sum of hard currency.

Police arrived as the gang attempted to leave, with two gang members surrendering and handing themselves in, and a third gang member surrendering after being wrestled to the ground. An unknown number of rogue prosthetics and their wearers remain inside the bank, threatening to shoot the hostages unless they are allowed to leave.

A number of Caille cyberprosthetics specialists have been called in to attempt to reason with the rogue prosthetics, and to question the surrendered devices.

More on this story, as it develops.

Rogue prosthetics? What's next? Rogue ships?

Also, banks? People still use paper money and coins? Even in Skarkon people use cards (unless bartering for goods).

One more reason not to use those prosthetic arms for mere vanity purposes.

Oh, it's fine to use prosthetics, as long as it's not one of those 'smart' prosthetics.

Hm, more rogue prosthetics? I believe Gutter Press ran reports on this issue earlier if I remember correct? Still, my guess is not on rogue AI prosthetics, but rather hacked networked prosthetics.
This is why it's bad to just network anything & everything... If you want to network something, secure it with appropriate security protocols!

Note to self: Set safeguards to my own cybernetic prosthetics. And no more GalNet interfacing.

I dread to think if my spine decided to held my upright posture hostage...

Woah, what an accident. Could be some sort of virus, and a funny one, in a grim way. Guess I'll have to be careful around certain Gallentean GalNet hubs, don't want to be choked by my own arm.

Oh dear, I hope they don't arrest the poor people obviously heartlessly used by their own artificial limbs. They clearly had no hands in this affair at all.

Clearly untrue as there were apparently not only hands but forearms, elbows, biceps and triceps involved as well!

UPDATE:

With Caille City Police refusing to give into the prosthetics demand, all the criminal arms have surrendered their weapons and handed themselves in.

Cyberprosthetics specialists from several Gallente corporations have stepped in, to provide replacement prosthetics for the hostages, with the criminal devices remaining in police custody.

A link was discovered between all affected hostages, all having received their prosthetics from the same clinic, on the outskirts of Caille. Police moved in quickly to investigate, but found the clinic abandoned, with no sign of the previous medical staff or equipment.

Caille City Police have not identified any suspects at this point, but are advising citizens to only obtain bodymods and prosthetics from reputable companies.

Activists have condemned that advice as unacceptable government endorsement of corporate interests, with some claiming this is a marketing stunt by one or more of the major cyberprosthetic manufacturers.

Well, I am really surprised this didn't end in a massacre. Those prosthetics can make a hole in someone's face, that's for sure.

It'd be blunt to suspect that it was some kind of competition, my guess is on a remote control testing, or, again, some sort of virus deliberately injected in this shady clinic.

It is just gallenteans with their freedom.
All they try to do is to achieve freedom and evade consequences of their actions. Instead of accepting proper punishment, they blame it on prosthetics.

Disgusting.
