Would you play on a new server instance?

I've always thought that a brand new server instance where everyone starts over fresh would be really great for this game and for attracting new players who have hesitated to previously join due to thinking they would be too far behind. Any thoughts?

Edit: I've been playing for four years on my main account, and opened two alt accounts this past year. Would definitely be interested in a new server instance.

It's just a perceived problem and a new server can't therefore fix it. It would give the illusion of things being equal temporarily, but they won't be and CCP can't just keep making new servers every time bad players want to excuse their own failings by blaming anything but themselves. The truth is, that if you can't compete here, you won't be able to do it on a new server either. The know-how and organizational capability of older entities will transfer to any new server and leave the inexperienced and unorganized players in the dust in the exact same way.

I think there is a case for a new server myself. But all the "vets" on here will kick and scream against it as they then lose easier marks to kill/scam etc. Or simply that recruits start to dry up.

But yeah, considering where the game now is it could be interesting.

WIthin a month it'd looks almost like a carbon copy of tranquility but without the supercaps (for a while).
Vets and big alliances knowing how the mechanics work would just expand there and take all the 0.0 space / control the markets (probably even more than on the current server).

Also sharding EvE would mean it wasn't EvE any longer and there'd be mass unsubs because the whole "actions have consequences in the single universe" would be gone.

A new server will not delete the friends, allies, connections and communities. It won't be a fresh and 'fair' beginning.

No, the eve universe is big, and there are a small number of players, why would you want to tilt the ratio even more.

A new server would have no positive meaning for this game.

Meh, I would play Eve if it would become single player. Other people are annoying.

If I were to start again I'd get into industry with my alt & go full on ewar with my main for pvp.

However, I really don't see me starting over. The idea of "new" space to explore gets me excited & I love that EvE is only one server.

The imbalance between the big entities and the new players would be even greater than it ever was on tranquility is just a few short weeks.

No.

One instance of Eve is all there ever should be.

Move to China if you want to access Eve on a shard that isn't really Eve. They started from scratch.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

It has nothing to do with veterans wanting to maintain some illusory advantage. EVE isn't like other MMOs where "level" matters. Character skills don't make you 'better' for the most part , they mostly give you access to new equipment and ways of doing things.

I sold the 1st character I ever made and i still have the 2nd one. That 2nd character can fly more ships and use more guns than any of my other characters. But the 3 focused characters I made (for various PVE related things, like incursions and Faction warfare missions) are much younger and much much better at what I use them for than that character that is years older.

Bottom line, a 'clean slate' won't cure a bad player's inadequacies (no matter how many skill points they have, they will still suck) and a good player isn't concerned about this kind of thing in the 1st place because he is more concerned about creating a good character that can do what needs to be done.

A new server wouldn't get significant use. Yeh sure some new players would join it, but a large amount of older experienced players would not even bother starting again.
