Hi everyone- so I posted a really big idea concerning Jovians in F&I today, and included in that was a piece of lore I created.

So I thought to myself, "why not post it here?"

Here you go (this is the lore behind Project Galileo):

The Jovian Directorate, after countless attempts to stop the onset of the Jovian Disease, undertook a new program, dubbed "Galileo". The aim of the program was to study the composition of the original human genetic code, down to the smallest detail, and the consequences of every possible mutation in order to find a cure to the disease. However, though the program yielded an engine that could, over time, observe a human's genes and monitor growth and changes, the Jovians suffered from a great lack of humans. At the same time, their own DNA was corrupt, and resultedly unsuitable for the project: nothing new would come of analysis of the broken Jovian Genome.

A decision was made by the Directorate leadership a short time afterwards: the device would be melded with existing technology and distributed to the empires, disguised as a 'simple' pilot interface. This machine was given to the Caldari Megacorporation ‘Ishukone’ in YC27 under the guise of a reward in exchange for 'information' the Jovians already possessed- and the rest, as they say, is history.

Returning to current day: the research has yielded results, and with great success: the choice has been made to intertwine the Jovian genome with the genes of stable humans to preserve the Jovian race. However, this is not a simple splice or cut-and-paste; through the work of the Galileo engineers and their successors, a perfect harmony has been struck between humans and Jovians. This new mix is considered a race all its own: a ‘bridge’ between Man and Jove. In honor of the project’s inspiration: a Jovian with a unique genetic structure, the Directorate has dubbed these new beings 'Galileans’.

Description for Genolution 'Galilean' JD-67:

The Genolution ‘Galilean’ JD-67 is the product of nearly a century of dedicated research and experimentation by the Directorate’s ‘Galileo’ program. Perfectly synthesizing Jovian and Human DNA, this ‘bridge’ brings the tenacity and resourcefulness of humans together with the advanced biology and mental superiority of the Jovians in a single body; in addition, the utter stability of this union provides a robust genetic base, unafflicted by virtually all defects associated with the human genome. This was the original aim of the project; and with its completion, the threat of the dreaded ‘Jovian Disease’, the fatal genetic plague that nearly brought about the end of a race, is over.

Now employed by all branches of the Directorate, the JD-67 has allowed all Jovians to ‘stabilize’, freeing the race of the devastation the disease once caused; and though it was designed for the purpose of repairing the Jovian race, outsiders, humans, who have provided great loyalty and service to the Jovian Directorate, have been granted use of it in recognition and gratitude.
