Spawn a new region of space as pacifists/carebear heaven:

  • 10+ security status required to jump there
  • No ships with combat capabilities allowed
  • Market only sells collectibles
  • Agents in station are jove and only give random advice for leading a virtuous life in lieu of missions
  • A special nebula effect makes all ship hull colors not entirely unlike pink
  • Stargates jump you to a random system each time
  • Residents that venture out to high/low/null (*gasp*) respawn safely back there (suggested by Tahnil)

I don't mean to be snarky as some no doubt will take that role up immediately... but my thought is why not just have the Jove mine for you and move the stuff into your hangers at record pace while you are free to resume play elsewhere? This haven idea does seem just a tad unrealistic.. almost like you are trying to illustrate the absurdity of some requests by being absurd. I like that this is a completely new idea so props for that .. but the only reason it's new is because no one in the past would have dared ask for something so game breaking.

Something tells me the Jove would not be susceptible to slavery, but it was a fine idea nonetheless. However, did you notice that there are very few ways of actually earning isk in the golden paradise I envisioned? I am pretty sure you can make a living on selling collectibles, but as long as you stay there you can only spend your hard earned isk on... more collectibles.

You are quite right, I am trying to make a point against absurdity with even more absurdity. Joking aside, I tried to imagine a region of space where you could not be hurt by other players, which seems to be the main theme around people asking to make highsec safer. But the thing is, following EVE's philosophy, if there is no risk there should be no (or at least very little) reward. I think that definitely makes sense if you want to maintain the game's balance. Following that philosophy, a really safe haven would be a place where you would quickly be bored out of your skull, because there *should* not be anything meaningful to do there.

Ironically your station hangar already has most of the characteristics of a conflict free zone. Minus the cool effects like hull color, but otherwise just fine. You can even engage in isk generation activities in all impunity. Except being holed up in there is just as fun as a dangerless region of space would be (a few permanent market hub residents may disagree on that).

So, in my utterly humble opinion, balancing difficulty in a complex game like EVE looks like it can be the stuff nightmares are made of.

I do understand that this is sarcasm but
Okay, but make it impossible to make isk there.
