Awesome changes! However could us colourblind folk (particularly red/green) get some options to help distinguish those colored lines?

So, will I finally be able to turn off the growling, swirling, window-wiper effect that I am subjected to everytime I jump or undock?

..and then turn it on only when I actually want relevant information presented to me?

Nice but there is some weird things:
- separating the D-Scan and the probe scan is great but... how can I open the D-Scan now and will it get its own shortcut ?
- in the probe scanner window when an anomaly is shown we can on TQ right click => warp within X km, on sisi right now there is no right click menu on anomalies which makes me sad :(

can we get a shortcut for Scan while you are on the scanner topic ?:p

The colors were only supposed to serve as additional distinction, the main difference between each type is the actual shapes and form and different icons.

That being said, additional emphasis or distinction is nice and we want to cater to that on a global scale and make it possible to shift colors so that they make more sense for different types of color blindness. It is a larger discussion and doesn't fit into one specific feature like the Sensor Overlay, but we are definitely looking at it as part of the bigger picture.

Can we have the ability to right-click on a signature in space and launch new/move existing probes to the signature at a default 4 AU (or user-defined) scanning range and start probing?

And since there is a rough location of the signatures shown in space, why not also show the same thing in solar system map? You can retain the current sphere, but also allow us to right-click on the signature in the probes window or the sphere/dot in the solar system map and send probes to it and start scanning straight away.

There is really not much point in forcing manual movement of the probes once a signature has been detected. In the space age where almost anything can be automated, once a signature has been detected, the scanning process should become automatic as the probes now have a signature to lock on to (no matter how weak/deviated it is. A sig is still a sig).

Sorry for the confusion, I was referring primarily to the compass.

BOOKMARKS VISIBLE IN SPACE!? THAT'S SCIENCE FICTION!

Love every single feature of this blog. But I have a question: could we expect some of these space objects to be also listed in the overview? And can you please tell the difference in philosophy between the sensor overlay and the overview+bracket system, as why some things are in the overview+bracket system and some other things are in the sensor overlay?

That is plain awesome! Can't wait to try it out! \o/

And because capsuleers are never satisfied...
While you are fiddling with the People&Places window, can you add an indicator for bookmarks that have notes? Either a small extra column or some icon... you'll figure something out!

Time for a quotefest!

Initial disclaimer: I'm the QA Analyst for team Five 0 so can't speak in too much depth about the design goals for this feature. Rest assured I'll make sure the relevant folk get the messages meant for them Smile

Great change.

You might want to add one thing to the Compass Overview. Having the Align to/Warp To displayed to the compass could be a great addition. This way people would know which way to turn their ship.
Callic Veratar wrote:
Probably not a feature for verson 2.0, maybe 2.1, but how about fleet broadcasts in here too (Plus align to/warp to/target/shoot/whatever)?
Some really great ideas here! There's certainly lots of scope for the compass and overlay to give additional and more meaningful feedback to players in the future.

Does it show the bookmarks on grid as a point?
Its shows bookmarks in the same way whether you are on grid or not Big smile

wow. bookmarks in space! thats so awesome! Radar is cool too ;)

and thanks for unifying overlay and the bracket list!
You are very welcome. It was important to us that we didn't make a system that conflicted with existing ways of navigating space, meaning people just turned it off and never used it!

Lisa Obrigada wrote:
What about making bookmarks show in Overview tabs? Be easier to warp to a BM by clicking once and hitting 'S' rather than right clicking in P&P? Or at least left click on a BM and have it appear as a 'Selected Item' for align/warp purposes.

PPS: Hot-keys for favorite bookmarks? Control+1 going to BM one for example would be *swoon*.
If I remember correctly the initial design decision was to keep personal items out of the overview. It was important to us that players are aware that any item shown in the overview was visible to all. I'll pass the sentiments on though.

As for hotkeys, that's another interesting idea, I'll put it to the designers and see what they say.

Well... I'll leave a "like" and a question:

Anomalies green - signatures red
I'm missing the point where it is explained why those colors needed to be changed?
I don't believe it was a need more than a desire for a more consistent color scheme now that there are more things to display. As I mentioned in the blog though this feature is still being tweaked so these colors are not necessarily final.

Some space object in the overlay don't get into the selected item box like the BM or the agents. Could be great to get them there to preselect them / align to / warp to.
That's a good point, I'll see if we can fix that.

Yep. If you filter out all the Sensor Overlay options you just get the blank compass.

Anyone notice CCP Lebowski and CCP Goliath look the same? Maybe they are twins, or maybe they are the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde of the Devs.

Anyway I LOVE THIS! Can't wait for it!

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

This is awesome. I'm glad to see some improvements with the UI.

However, as for the bookmarks, I think they need some love. I think it's high time you guys put sub-folders in, so we neat freaks can have things setup the way we want them to be.

I didn't read the entire article, but if this is already being added, my apologies. If it isn't, I'm going to light a fire under someones butt to get it.

Great stuff.

If one is not careful, one might think you guys either play the game or listen to your players. Either way, the general gaming industry as a whole will not be amused if this gets out.
