So much for explicitly laid out rules...

It's a guideline, not a rule. The number of people that ask me on IRC/Twitter/Forums "can I do X, I know it's kind of a bad thing to do but..." is fairly large.

And I was hoping that the actual rules would be laid out all in one official place. As it is, I've tried to get clarification on them in posts and threads and in a ticket that went for a month and a half before getting closed without a clear answer. The only answers I managed to get were about how bad Customer Service is and whether I wanted to make an app and fansite.

The moment there are /explicit/ rules, with no 'don't be bad' clause, you'll have people violating the spirit, but not /quite/ the letter.

Is there any approximate timeframe as to when the authenticated CREST endpoints are going to be tested/accessible?

Hopefully testable on Sisi in a few weeks, but not to TQ for some time as there are a few issues that need to be sorted out.

Delicious! Any insight on which endpoints will be available?

So there shouldn't be explicit rules at all? Just 'Don't be bad' and 'We can ban you at any time for breaking the rules we won't tell you'?

I have updated it slightly to be a bit more descriptive. We don't really have any rules for the API other than what the developers license sets out. If you want explicit rules look to that. The FAQ and guidelines are not rules, they are guidelines, things to help guide you.

I really don't know what other rules we have...

One in particular that I have been looking for is cache scraping and when it is or isn't allowed. I've seen conflicting official sources and it's been driving me up the wall.

Cache scraping is, officially, against the rules.

CCP will not approve it.

They've just said that, if you're not doing anything else against the rules, they won't act against it.

(It's not good. but I can understand it. Long term, they're planning on removing the cache.)
