Zoom Lock

Less of a functional suggestion and more of an eve-experience/graphical one. Will see whether or not others think this would be good, or stupid and I'm just a maniac.

How eve was meant to look -> (click)

How eve actually tends to look when in any sort of combat (because of utility/convenience) -> (click)

Same scene, just zoomed out and very boring. It's so easy to zoom out and convenient for combat that I (and I'm sure others) spend most of their time looking at the game like this. So the proposed change would be a cap on zoom distance (possibly something that can be enabled/disabled in settings for very large fleet battles where larger view is a must).

EDIT test.

So basically you want the computer imagery feed into my brain to be artificially limited without any good tactical sensor board replacing it. We aren't actually 'seeing' any of this. We are ship captains with sensor inputs and remote camera drones to look at different angles.
If I have to be locked to a close visual view of my current ship I want it to be a tiny window in the corner and my main window to be a primary sensor plot showing all ships in 3D positions and allowing me to move my ship easily to any point on that map.... Homeworld had a good example of a smooth 3D interface for movement.

So basically no is my short answer. But if I get a primary tactical overview as my main window that works like homeworld, and allows to do simple right click targeting as well (Though the overview should stay) I'll consider having a forced close up view which can be expanded & is called 'cinematic view' or something.

Also you obviously don't do combat or you would have the tactical overview up along side that, with a specific overview enabled to show your primary targets locations on the tactical overview on screen. And given your scale, you are probably using sniping Rokhs if you really are zoomed out that far, or are keeping watch for anyone warping on grid to gank you in low/null/wh

Did not read OP.

Zoom lock that can be turned off to use current interface if required; but option of engaging zoom lock for players who want a more first person feel and to always (rather than occasionally) see the details that CCP put into the game environment as they were meant to be seen, give the game a much bigger and more real feel.

Uh..... you can just leave your camera in close to the ship then. You don't need a new feature to do any of this.

You were specifically stating it 'possibly something that can be enabled/disabled in settings for very large fleet battles'. and that it would be capped at any other time. I very specifically did read op.
When it's highly relevant at almost any time. I listed a bare few places it already is relevant as a solo pilot on grid above.

Read but misunderstood; at no point did I say it would be enabled by default the rest of the time. Seemed pretty simple to me but maybe not. Also the stuff added above was added in a post edit after my response.

Now you are flat out lying. The Edit gives a time stamp a mere 6 minutes after your first post, and well before my first response (*watches you go and edit again just to move that time stamp).

As you can see from the edit I just posted in my first post, editing a post does not affect the time stamp.

There is a hover info window that pops up when you leave your mouse over the 'Edited'.
That hover info does get updated. It was set to 06:57, a mere 6 minutes after your post. It has now updated to 18:33.
So I can confirm that you are wrong, and the edit time stamp does get updated, and that you are still lying about when you edited the post.

Oh well then I just didn't ready your full post. Hardly makes me a liar, although I do appreciate being called one. Is there anything else you'd like to say?

Note your own emphasis. That part makes you a liar. As for the rest of it. Op is still a bad idea for exactly the reasons I put in my first reply.

Ah ok, I am glad to know that I am a liar. Is there anything else you'd like to add?

EDIT: Almost forgot, as you seem overly angry and upset about what seemed to be a simple idea, I have a gift for you.
