Funny thing is that when people talk about unfinished expansions, they always leave out Incarna, which was not even deployed as planned, and thus the most unfinished expansion to date.
As it was also THE expansion that I was looking forward to ever since I started playing, I'm still not completely over my disappointment.
Thus, if they even only talked about implementing the CQ upgrades that were supposed to be in there by now (customizable CQ screen, for example), I would smile a little. My grin will likely only come back if the door actually opens, though.

Checklist of regurgitated WiS topics over the last 5 years that could have been Googled instead of re-posted:

I am a player who enjoys EVE, especially the carnage in space. However, Walking in Stations could be implemented without taking too many resources from other development assets.

If a small team (1-3 Devs) were allocated to do piecemeal work on WiS per patch cycle, it could be expanded.

The primary focus of course would be the spaceships aspect of EVE. But here are a few suggestions just off the cuff.

- Decorum for CQ (interactable items, i.e. drinks, smokes, medal displays, etc)
- Being able to display certain loot items on the wall
- Expansion of CQ to include hangar, not just the gantry leading to your ship
- Gambling and vending machines in a promenade or concourse area
- Shops, agent hubs, actual Corporate Offices (and meeting rooms)
- Bars, clubs, et cetera

Anything the imagination can really manifest in a reasonable fashion could be implemented bit by bit. This way, in a year or two there would be expansive environments for those who wanted them, and you could still opt out of using it if you so choose. Hell, allow pilots to even interact with dust bunnies on station. I believe this reasonable, but as initially stated, space would still be the primary priority along with mechanics.

By this point anyone involved with Walking in stations has quit or been fired. They would have to hire a full new team.

And I'll happily stop being salty the day something comes of said constructive conversations....

I would agree with this - if a small amount of resources were put against this on the EVE side, and they were in communication with the Dust/Legion team and allowed to use the same engine, then when you combine Legion's engine with the upcoming on-demand content download capabilities, I really think CCP could deliver us that vision they originally talked about.

Just like Captain's Quarters were supposed to be a slow temporary start, they can iterate on it for each release. I'm sure if they gave us vending machines and other items for AUR, then the AUR sales could start funding further development in the avatar experience.

Ultimately, I'd love to see a unified EVE universe, where Legion, Valkyrie, and EVE all existed on the same plane and in the same overall client.

Never thought of having the DUST devs work on it like that.

It seems logical to me, right? The engine already supports quite a few simultaneous players on-screen, but work would need to be done to render each custom avatar and clothing to a single texture. Also a way to group things so that you don't have thousands of players all in the same room. Perhaps some sort of grid-spacing system, that naturally keeps people from entering a room that is full, so that they have to stand outside. Obviously some thought and time would need to go into challenges like that, but the underlying code would be something I think they should build upon, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

Also, since the EVE Incarna portion would not require any shooting mechanics, it would enable quite a few more players to be in the same room, enabling both small tavern-like places with only room for a certain number of seedy characters, or large halls with huge ceilings and multiple levels, like Mass Effect's Citadel Presidium.

Further, EVE is moving to on-demand assets shortly, which allows the EVE core game, with all things EVE (Legion, Valkyrie, EVE Spaceships, EVE Barbie In Stations) downloaded, could be 20 - 50 GB. Those that only play EVE Spaceships yet still want to download the entire game, can choose to download only the spaceship assets, in the EVE downloader settings. Of course the players should decide what they want to play when they enter the EVE universe. If they leave their captain's quarters and take the tube transport to their favorite cantina, then the assets will be loaded on demand, and the wait for the tube to arrive would also work as a way to load things. (elevators in real life aren't instantaneous, nor should they be in EVE).

I think we're past the original Burn Jita days, and the constant iterations to Flying In Space is great. It's now time to rethink how to bring all of the visions of EVE together into a single universe.

CCP has already brought that up as a possibility: that Legion, if it's greenlighted, would be shipping ambulation gameplay in the EVE universe. The engine they're using certainly supports that kind of game well, and they already know how to connect it to the spaceship game, so it could happen.

Maybe not soon. Maybe not all at once (Legion will probably start where DUST ends, as a lobby shooter with a persistent world). But it's a path of less resistance than attempting Incarna/WoD in space over again.

CCP should try selling something other than clothing and ship skins for aurum. Like some sort of flair item for capsuleers CQ.

Like some sort of hologram projector that sits on the table and can display some sort of commemorative image. Like carolines star. Or a titan wreck.

I can't help but think they are wasting an opportunity to bring more money in.

I would cheerfully kick in £15 to a kickstarter for an avatar based WIS game, since that's the only way we're ever going to see it.

I'm actually excited about Dust514 being profitable. I haven't turned on my PS3 in ages, but when I did play Dust it was actually pretty fun. For my personal tastes, I can't play repetitive things like arena games or lobby shooters. I prefer to explore. Give me a wasteland to explore and find shiny things, shoot monsters, discover and learn about EVE lore. Somewhere so vast that I may bump into someone, or I may not. I don't want a themepark experience. Perhaps Fallout 3 + Witcher 3 + Mass Effect. That would be so fun. Scanning planets and taking the shuttle down but it's impossible to be so accurate that you land where you want. If someone else is also hunting the same treasure at the same time, then they land miles away, but you're both tracking to the same beacon.... One can only dream, right? :)

OK so soon we will have had much of the promised stuff done, Corps, Starbases and much more, so personally I would rather CCP take a few months with a big team once the big stuff is done and finish this feature. As I understand it was quite far along, but the deployment of the feature was too slow and underwhelming and with that it meet with much criticism (a riot in Jita P), but with the new dev cycle I dont see having a big team on this to get it to deployment as an issue.

There are many people who still dream of their space bar, or being able to have a Corp or Alliance meeting in an office on a space station somewhere. Plus with the new Structures promised being able to walk about them would be a nice bonus, having to go to a command center to take control of the weapons would be very cool, or have a situation room where you can plan and command battles that kinda thing would be fun.
