o/ all!

I have an idea I'd like to push out there in regards to null sec...specifically addressing the issue of massive alliances holding mass areas of null, yet not having to do much of anything to actively keep those holdings. My proposed solution also addresses the large number of occupied moons with offline POS's throughout EVE; you know the ones...corporation of 2 members, inactive for 4 years...

Anyway, the idea. Destroyer Incursion-type roams by NPC's. I'm using Sansha's Nation as an example, to get the idea across...implementation can be filled by an open array of creative faction groups, etc.. In effect, CCP enacts rogue fleets of tough mobs, their goal not being occupation of a constellation, but simply search and destroy...primarily property damage. In theory, this isn't intended to be a uber difficult fight, because in my mind, these guys aren't looking for a serious fight, just to do as much damage as possible. Long drawn out engagements aren't what they want.

What's that mean? These groups of battle hardened pirates are bent on revenge and property damage. Offline and online POS's, starbases, tcu's, ihubs, etc.. are their targets. This could include a warning to the alliance, notifying them of the impending attack beforehand, or just a notification once the attack begins. High sec and low sec systems, this frees up those annoying inactive POS's and placeholder ones. If these pirates receive no challenge to their attack, the structure is destroyed, sov lost, etc..

Why? To shake things up. Alliances holding mass amounts of systems just because they dropped a tcu in it on a 40 jump trip in every system they went thru that now charge rent to other people and don't offer protection. Now they have to defend for and work to keep the systems. In addition, this makes them solidify their holdings...sh*t or get off the pot. Hopefully freeing up large amounts of systems for newcomers. Flip side of this, it could be profitable to actually defend these systems, loot, LP, rep, and the obvious perk...get to keep your system.

Idea in progress, I just wanted to get the general idea out there, see how it's welcomed, and get the rest of the community's ideas. If liked, maybe this can contribute to some of the null changes planned.

Fly paranoid!

Well, that would shake things up a bit. Brings back memories of trying to complete those COSMOS missions with enemies respawning continually..

IT would seem that there is a type of NPC that would ant to hit back at property cause we've been nicking their stuff and blowig up their structures for a long time... Sleepers!

Just add a probability when a wormhole opens up that it spawns a group from a relic site appropriate to the class of W-Space which goes rampaging, mostly interested in T3 ships, vacant and inactive POSes, and unattended TCUs. What a wonderful waste of time and resources to help prevent soul-crushing lag by keeping empires smaller, engagements more often and often against NPCs or to settle what they hath wrought.

Melikes.

Hell, if people cant defend their structures against some sleepers then they shouldn't be occupying a system in null. This is quite an interesting idea

Null sec is about the player generated content, not npc's do the work and we sit back.
The players need to fix the null issue( if there is one) not some lame npc spawns
