Last - Blur, Hyde Park

Awesome, awesome show with all the fan favourite marred by the fact I was bursting to go after a few pints, and ended up listening to Song 2 being played whilst using the latrines.

Favourite - The Cooper Temple Clause, The Quad, London

One of those cult status bands during the indie rock boom of the early 2000s, mixing in electronica, metal, and punk rock. Didn't get so drunk, but I left with gruff vocals from shouting and singing along to the songs. A lot of energy from the band and some mahem from the crowd. Good times.

Quite true.
Thing is, the old Sisters songs are awesome and altogether classics by now.
Almost every goth worth his salt knows them up and down. Many bands did cover versions, most of them quite decent.
The irony is that nobody does a worser job than Sisters when performing these songs.

Take the eternal classic, "Alice", for example. this is a recent performance by them. And it's not the fault of the video, the sound is really that bad, and you cannot see the stage at all because of all the fog.

Now take any cover version by an other band, any one you want, and you'll realize why most people like Sisters of Mercy any more nowadays....

Last concert was Eluveitie and Tyr last week.

favorite was Arch Enemy Khaos over Japan 2012..first time i got to see my favorite band.

First - Lamb of God, Darkest Hour, God Forbid, and some other band I can't remember, in 2001.

Last - Katatonia and Opeth last year.

Favorite - The last one. I had been planning to see both of those bands for the last decade, but work got in the way every time they played near me. As a bonus, Opeth's playlist for that show didn't involve any of the new hippie bullshit they've put on their last two albums.

My first concert was Eve 6 and Third Eye Blind, way back in the day when I was 14 or 15.

Last concert I went to was Bayfest on Oahu, but honestly I don't remember a lot of it since I was drinking all the beers.

My absolute favorite show I got to go to was Dragonforce when they played Honolulu. Their stage presence was amazing and their bass player played through a solo while chugging Jack Daniels from the bottle.

Yeah, me too. Born in the 70's, raised in the 80's, came of age in the 90's, traveled the country in the 2000's.

Good times.

As Tom Petty says, "well the good old days may not return..." but it's ok. Life goes on and is what we make of it.

My first one was, um, Steve Hillage in 1977.

A few weeks later I saw Rainbow and they were amazing and then a year later I was at the first ever Whitesnake gig (front row, slap bang centre) and I have a front of house poster of that night framed above my drum kit in my studio.

Best gigs? Well, I often seem to get front row dead centre for a Albert Lee and he's brilliant to watch just feet away. I've seen Rory Gallagher in a small Belgian village hall which was intimate and wonderful. I've seen Thunder in a small cafe in Southern Germany tear the place apart.

But the best? Has to be Reading Festival in 1980. The line-up was out of this world. Whitesnake headlined, Gillan played with his own band, Rory Gallagher was there, Pat Travers too. Not to forget that was the year that Slade made their comeback when they replaced Ozzy Osbourne at the last minute. Who else was there? Well, Nine Below Zero, a brilliant estuary blues band tore the place apart. UFO were there. So were Def Leppard and so were Iron Maiden.

Bruce Dickinson was there, not with Maiden but with his previous band, Samson. Gary Moore's band was there too as was the band from South Wales, Tygers of Pan Tang.

Now, nothing ever came close to Reading '80. And it didn't even rain.


The last band I saw was last year; Rush in Sheffield. Magic as ever.
