When to use tech II rigs ?

Before the launch Crius expansion Tech II rigs were cost much that sometimes couple of these in your frig or cruiser can reach the price tag of your ship itself. Thanks to the small buff to invention and the positive ME values you get for now from inventing, it reduced the prices of rigs a bit, yet many still using tech I rigs till now I know you can do mix and match between tech I and II but I still find many fits showing wasted calibration points that could be effectively used with better version of rigs. So my question is ..what are the reasons for people to not use tech II rigs ?

1- price tag still expensive.

2- Not in hell I'm going to use it in PvP when I'm sure I'm going to lose my ship anytime.

3- market unavailability sometimes.

4- My rig skills doesn't allow me to fit tech II rigs.

5- Tech I rigs is suffecient for w/e PvP or PvE activites in game.

6- I don't care.Cool

7- others. [specify]

Lady Areola Fappington:  Solo PVP isn't dead!  You just need to make sure you have your booster, remote rep, cyno, and emergency Falcon alts logged in and ready before you do any solo PVPing.

For starters, you can fit a T2 rig on a ship without having the fitting skills, this changed some 5 weeks ago.

I primarily pop T2 rigs to smaller PvP boats, but that's oly when the whole gang is expensive so we all have something to lose.

My general rule of thumb is as such,

Add T2 Rigging when: Ship is T2 or above (Faction/T3) Ship has Facton or Deadspace mods, or the ship has lived for so long it deserves the love.

It depends on the rig and how much benefit you're getting from it, some T2 rigs such as Trimarks, Auxiliary Nano Pumps, Dps Rigs, etc give a sizeable bonus while being relatively cheap depending on the hull (T3s, T2 Cruisers etc).

T2 medium damage rigs are a massive DPS boost for pretty much no money. On a Talos for example, you gain 100 DPS for 15-20mil.

I guess it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend, but these days the price of T2 rigs are worth it on a lot of ships, not just expensive faction ships.

My general rule of thumb is unless it is some sort of suicide fleet, I'll use tech 2 rigs as long as each individual rig isn't >20% the cost of the hull.

To answer OP I only use T2 Rigs if:

Flying in Incursions
Using T3 Ship
Most T2 Ships Cruiser and Above

For T1 sub caps, unless its for incursions, I use t1 rigs.

Maybe I'd T2 rig faction battleships but I don't really fly them.

I guess the best answer is, if you can afford them do it. Why not? It is only an issue if there are calibration problems or you don't have the ISK.

to offset costs of t2 rigs put up reasonable buy orders. By reasonable I mean cover costs of material/build plus some extra for the work.

Or network in your crew (or on eve sites in general) and see who has an indy side job. Many times they can be reasoned with. Bulk orders tend to help here as not many get thrilled about firing invent and build on 1 this, 1 that, 1 the other....If the funds there say like 5 of this and/or 5 of that gets better deal finding I have found. This obviously works best on your most commonly used rigs.

Same bulk idea goes for boosters as well if you go down that route. Might get better deals going for bulk if you can swing it than drawing it out 1 at time.

Simple answer, it's your isk, you need to figure out what is the most effective way to spend it.

Fit your ship in PYFA, it shows item cost and you can clearly see the stat changes. Some are fairly cheap, just like dead space mods.

PYFA > EFT, you'll never go back.

My general rule of thumb is to T2 rig any T2 ship cruiser hull or above so that i get the most out of it, I will put T2 trimarks on a faction battleship as well or on a faction cruiser. Capitals i Keep T1 due to enormous costs and most T1 ships are cheap enough to replace there is no need for T2 rigging.

just my way of looking at it.

I use a simple formula: Price of 2/3 T2 rigs > Price of ship = Use T1 Rigs.

most of my t2/t3/faction ships have t2 rigs. having access to small/medium/large rigs really helps with that though. Also some t2 rigs are cheap and I'll use those on t1 ships. Also any ship I plan on holding for a long time I'm willing to spend extra on.

some of my ships are old and I still have large polycarbons on a crow, large gravity caps on a buzzard, and a few large CDFP Is on drakes. I almost wish some of those were t2, but I wasn't anywhere near space rich back then.
