Don't trust a guy who calls himself "honest".

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose (this includes the contents of your cargo)
There is no honor in EVE.
If you get mad over space pixels, you are the one who has issues, not the person that caused you to get mad.
Play against the character not the person sitting at the keyboard.
Tears are more glorious when you let them flow naturally instead of trying to extract them.

Don't mine, it's the best way to never make it past the trial.

This isn't actually true at all.
If it was the case, there would be no game.

Try things, find what you love and then do that but dont be afraid to do other things as well as sooner or later the CCP nerf hammer WILL fall on your beloved.

Grow, evolve, adapt.

Remember it IS just a game.

Make friends, the more the better.

Dont be afraid to fail, especially early as you try new things.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

If someone says “don't do X before you have Y”, punch them in the throat so they stop saying things — it's far kinder than they deserve, but hey, sometimes you just have to be generous.

Also, see sig.

1. Be patient... this is a "process game." The only goals out there are those you set for yourself and it takes quite some time before you become even 90% comfortable doing things.

2. Talk with others and show a good attitude... even if you do not want to or have good reason to. This is a game after all. You are here to have fun and sometimes you have to learn and connect with others to have more fun (or better protect the fun you desire).

3. Learn the basics of PvP, PvE, and industry... even if you have no interest in any of them. They all affect each other in some way and no one is immune.

4. Understand that this is a multiplayer sandbox. This means that you can do whatever you want in the game... but other players can do the same thing... even if it runs counter to your goals and objectives.

5. Nothing is guaranteed in EVE. I am no more guaranteed to kill you than you are in avoiding me killing you. Likewise, I am no more guaranteed to get a "fair price" from you than you are in selling me stuff at an "unfair price."
The trick is to stack the odds in your favor whenever and however you can (see Point #3).

1. Don't trust anybody, not even your corp or the new guy invited. Stay on friendly terms, but be more neighborly instead of family (aka look after them, but don't get invested)
2. Only supply yourself with what you can afford, take what you need even if its from others (aka don't fly bling, but get it from the local convenience kill-shop ships that asplode on undock)
3. Expect to lose, a lot.
4. Clones, keep them updated
5. Block is your friend, use and abuse like a red headed step child in populated systems; close chat tab in trade hubs (cause we all need to read another anti-America or BLAH-BLAH-YADA-YADA wishful fix to highsec while you whiney carebear risk adverse trigger pullers are in highsec discussing it; irony meet kettle...cause if you are in highsec asking for another nerf for the carebear you are a carebear just as much as the one you complain about...supply locally from null/low or shut up about highsec risk adverse people you can still shoot at with CONCORD willing to shove a broom stick sideways where it won't be comfortable when you fire).

Only two things.

1. That guy in local without the blue or green tag is most likely out to get you.
2. That guy in local with the blue or green tag is just less likely out to get you.

Alts are sneaky, you think you have them under control, and then they empty the corp wallet.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

*Snip* Removed reply to a deleted post. ISD Ezwal.

1) do not fly what you cant effort to lose.
2) not everyone is your friend. you have to be wary of your ingame friends.
3) Join a corp, better join a corp with experience.
4) always be on your guard.
5) if something sounds to good to be true, it isn't.

Five is meant right, but written wrongly.

If something sounds too good to be true, then it is. (too good to be true)

Thought I point that out.
