I admit it, I did it, and laughed out loud. Now I can't seem to stop doing it, and it still remains hilarious.

Do you look for things to get super serious about? Its a troll thread and you got trolled hard. I suggest you get even more super serious about it. Another +1 for OP
Troll thread or not, there's so much mis/disinformation in the OP that it has to be countered with some actual hard facts.

And no I'm not super serious about it, I just don't like or tolerate fools, especially shitposting ones.

Or you could develop a sense of humor and not try to poop in peoples cheerios. But hey... If you want to be Mr huffy puffy then that's your thing.
Oh I have a sense of humour, it's just that funniest thing in the thread is Ralph and his mouse pointer quip.

As for pooping in cheerios, I prefer to urinate in Cornflakes, it saves on the bogroll.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I'll admit I did think it was most likely a troll thread from OP but you might get some newbie ganker haters taking it seriously! Facts can help there maybe?

What I'm curious about is how the psychology of a protection racket works in this game.

From what I understand CODE "sells" mining licenses in high-sec space and then ganks players who don't have a "licence".

This is a classic protection racket. "pay us or we'll do something to you".

In real life the consequences can be serious, but in EVE, there is every reason to simply say "bite me"..... and yet people pay them and people worry about them.

How the heck does that work?

Two reasons

1. Some people actually support what we are doing(generating content and reducing "risk free" afk isk)

2. Permits are very cheap. 10m isk per year. Some of the ships we gank could buy permits for a thousand miners.

They ask for 10mil per year?
Yep, 10M for an annual permit, which can be revoked if you're caught not following their rules regarding mining.

How the heck do they keep track of all that? The administration alone would cost more. If someone in my corp asked me to set up admin for an operation of this scale then it would cost 100mil a day just to get out of bed for it. And that's not to mention the ship losses from suicide attacks etc etc.
This is Eve, they use a spreadsheet obviously P

So either their idea of finances is limited to throwing pennies into a wishing well or they have some kind of business model that I can't understand. If it's all about the content then I can follow it from a gaming perspective, but in terms of what makes sense in terms of isk then for 10mil per-year-per-sucker they'd be better off spinning ships.

T-
Share purchases/donations, they've burnt through 400 Billion isk in just over 2 years and the SRP is sat at about 12 Billion at the moment. They're good for business, especially if you manufacture the stuff the gank, and the stuff they use to gank.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

You are looking at it ass-backwards. The New Order isn't a protection racket, we only resemble one because that's the only way CCP allows us to operate. The point isn't to sell permits - it's to counter the poisonous influence that highsec miners and other bot-aspirant types have on the game.

We do sell permits for a negligible cost, but we never intended to make any isk from them. Our ganks are entirely funded, not by permit sales, but by charitable donations from all the EVE players who support our mission.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive, and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.
