Eve needs more people (like Atreyu) offering help to others instead of this "i hold on my isk" and "kill-the-carebears" and "everything-is-a-scam" attitudes that spread all over lately and it would be a much nicer place to be. There's room for everything, isn't it?

If there were more people like Atreyu 90% of the bonds would be scams.There is a difference between being generous and being gullible, Atreyu should be happy it took him only 200mil to learn that lesson.

Wanted to help a player have fun instead of having to wait for days to use a ship that would have been more optimal for mining (and thus faster isk gain).

Scammer took advantage of my open kindness, nothing new to see here.

Is it just me. But I got the feeling that lately there have been an increase in petty scams in MD?

I know at least I have become more wary, To many new people dropping in and asking for ISK a lot of them feels like they just want a quick ISK injection.
To bad really, it makes you wish for a comeback from BadBobby. A good scam should be in billions and cause some E-drama, this is just sad!

It sucks that people take advantage of your kindness, maybe you understand why we hold on to our ISK ;-)

I don't believe I will lend ISK to anyone without at least an API check before any more...

The way I see it, it has just turned into true Forum PVP: Don't Lend What You Can't Afford To Replace.

I will still loan out amounts that don't particularly impact my balance sheet, and hopefully I'll be able to avoid enough scams to make a net profit in the end.

Well that sucks. This wouldn't be such a horrible thing except Atreyu you were supportive above and beyond what is usual for a lender.

EDIT: Tom Hagen makes an excellent observation. Scamming is indeed bad but all the worse when it's not even entertaining. We had Bernie Madoff and Charles Ponzi now it's mostly pathetic muggers just going after the small time stuff.Sad
