Size of your PVP float

I do indy because I need a float for PVP.

I figure I lose +/- 10-15 billion a year on PVP. I'm going to say that 1/2 of that gets reimbursed, so the most I need on a yearly basis is about 7 billion isk.

My PVP float, therefore, is about double that or about 14-15 billion isk. I start to get nervous if my float shrinks to under 10 billion. If it were to shrink below the levels that it would take to replace a dreadnaught then I would become very nervous indeed. Last time I replaced a dread it cost me about 2 billion beyond what was covered by insurance and SRP.

So.... Any money I have beyond about 15bil I feel comfortable sinking into whatever crazy plans I have to make it grow. My timeframe for cycling that ISK is about a year but usually I cycle it twice a year to be safe.

I'm just wondering how other people do that.... For those of you who use indy as a way of making income for PVP... how big of a float makes you feel comfortable?

Am I the only person here who does this?

It depends. I set my PvP fund target dependent on the PvP I am doing, much like you appear to have done.

During three years flying with Pandemic Legion I suffered very few losses. PL fleets being fairly low risk for the individual pilot. I never felt the need to avail myself of SRP on the few losses I did suffer. Overall, the replacement costs for my fleet docterine ships was trivial. However, my PvP budget still had to be very high because of the need to purchase, maintain and transport a large number of constantly changing fleet docterine ships. So I would probably have started worrying if I saw my PvP wallet fall below 20B.

I spent a much longer time flying with HYDRA RELOADED, during which I suffered frequent losses. HYDRA PvP being fairly high risk as it's primarily solo or small gang fighting while heavily outnumbered. Therefore the replacement costs for my ships was high and there was no SRP to fall back on. However, the docterine compliance costs were much lighter. As a result I was happy with a PvP wallet of 5B or more, even though I was losing much more than in PL.

Now, I'm mostly inactive and only occasionally log on for a bit of solo T1 frigate/cruiser PvP. I have around 50 fitted hulls of each type that I use and I only worry about my PvP wallet when I see my supplies falling into the single digits. I suppose, because I am personally in control of my docterines, that I've just replaced my PvP wallet with stacks of pre-fitted ships.
