"CIDER upgrade for the EVE Mac client
The underpinnings of the EVE Mac client gets a big update with Oceanus that addresses several issues."

Just how big is this upgrade... Is it fair to assume it will work as well as the PC client?

Check out the sisi build. It seems about the same to me, with about the same fps. So no improvement there. I have not gotten a freeze with the sisi build, but I rarely get one on TQ, so that means little.

It's hard to test the crash bug in a limited window of time. Sometimes I get 0 crashes in two hours. Sometimes I get 4 in an hour.

If they managed to reduce the crashes, make the client more background-friendly, and maybe even fix the memory leak, I'll take all of that over a performance increase.

Thanks for the response.

What about that new reporting tool CCP made. Take data from computers to help them optimize the clients... but not acail for MAC yet - which is where they need it most.

The only reason I use Windows is to play EVE. If the make client can multi-box (or just play) as reliably as the Windows client I'd be very very happy. - This allows me to make media of EVE for youtube b/c all my tools are on the mac side.

I think you are referring to eve probe. It tests graphics issues. They have an in-house version that works on the Mac, but the reporting function is not yet working:

Soon, I hope - we haven't forgotten the Mac users. We have used it inhouse - the Probe itself runs fine under Cider, but we haven't decided how to deal with the launcher bit that gathers the data.

The reporting side seems simple enough. Hell, their web team could write it. It's how they do the EVE launcher.

I'm really looking forward to EVE Probe being available to us. It will be at least as useful at finding areas where Cider is misbehaving as it is at finding areas where EVE is.

The Cider update we had slated for yesterday didn't go out then, it is now live on TQ as of today though. I'm interested in hearing of any changes in play experience as a result!

Well for starters the CPU graphs are all much lower than before - they used to hover around the 35% to 40% region.
Now they've been steady at around 14% to 17%. Big smile

- The station images render correctly.
- 3D Preview of character assets render as they should - they're not 'washed out/faded' as before.

Will check others fixes soon....
