Self-destructing bookmarks

Hi,

I would love to see a checkbox for declaring bookmarks as self-destructive while adding new BMs.

Most of us hate to manually delete old unneeded BMs, so usually they just stay in the system and clutter. So it would be great to have BMs which will get auto-deleted after some time (1-24h?)

What dou you think about that?

Useful idea, though your selection of timers is rather too limited. It should be either allowing selection of any time, or give range of choices like for market orders (plus likewise preferred default).

In overall, I support.

Yeah maybe things like 6 hours, 12 hours, 24, 48, 72 or... whatever a week works out to.

I like the idea though and would certainly use it. I really hate it when I bookmark a rock next to a gank target, call it 'here' then when I go to warp to it realize there are 5 such bookmarks.

Has been proposed before and I'm pretty sure I heard CCP mention they'd like to do it but it will likely be after they finally get around to Alliance bookmarks (don't quote me on that, though)

I'd love to see it in game, though.

Would not be a bad idea. With variable timer you set and the option to cancel the auto-deletion this would make a nice addition to any explorers' tool kit. Makes it easier on an corp's bookmarking as well since sometimes members forget to delete the site after running salvage.... months later you have to ask: why is this here?

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

A good idea and I could support this with one simple addition.
There would need to be an option to never auto delete. Some of us have quiet a few bookmarks for various purposes that stay in our folders personal or corp for extended periods of time.

This would be super useful, most of the bookmarks I make are temporary so not having to go back and find them would be awesome.

While originally I was thinking of a fixed time span (like 12h), I like the idea of variable destruction times.

variable > fixed
But fixed would be great already.

Thanks for the support :)

Am not sure how adding more clicks to set them up to expire saves the one click to remove it.

or just add a check-box "temporary BM" when adding a new BM.... plus a "clear all temporary BM's" function somewhere.

that timer-thingy seems rather complicated to implement.

This is a really good idea.

Should probably be implemented with a scrollbox with all the times commonly needed. (with a default input, of Permanent, so if you need a bookmark in a hurry you can get one with the same number of clicks as currently).

It's not about number of clicks. It's about going through your bookmarks months later and thinking "Wtf is that? Is that important? I don't remember what that is..."
The problem is more obvious with corp bookmarks where you don't know if the person created it for something important or not. And sure it would be nice to assume people will clean up their own bookmarks, but we all know that doesn't happen as often as it should / could and we're probably all guilty of it at some point.

That could also work and be very effective, with probably less hassle for Dev's.

Good point, that would also be just as useful and simpler to implement.
